NOBLNG Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 (edited) Is this kit worth $50? I have no experience with Fujimi kits…are they accurate and go together well? The seller says it is very rare, although I would want to build it rather than have it sit on the shelf. Any info or opinions appreciated, Thanks.? Edited January 11, 2023 by NOBLNG
Matt Bacon Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 Not an easy build, but the 356s are among the best of Fujimi’s insanely detailed “Enthusiast Model” series. There’s a thread about them here somewhere. Testors boxes are a good way to get some of them. Build here (not mine) https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235078360-fujimi-porsche-356/ That’s a good price for one… best, M.

Any info or opinions appreciated, Thanks.? whats the kit number? fujimi have decent curbsides but there are also the enthusiast versions of some kits that have high part number engines (like 50 plus on some). Theres a few builds of someof the ferraris and porsche enthusiast kits. I have afew but i've not built them yet. as for rarity, if you got it for $50 its not that rare as they sell for about 40 new, and some had a recent reissue. It may be that its an uncommon boxing and admittedly i havent seen that boxing. the builds i've seen of them are very nice. I think the same kit in the enthusiast series runs around $100 but they have better box art imo,
Matt Bacon Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 OldModelKits reckon the Testors box is one of the full detail Enthusiast Models with “over 270 parts.” The engine has a crankshaft and pistons, for example (and 36 parts altogether…) best, M.
NOBLNG Posted January 11, 2023 Author Posted January 11, 2023 Thanks Les, and thank you Matt for the build link. I think I will try to snag it if it’s still available.? 1

The Fujimi EM 356 Porsches (this is a rebox of the Fujimi EM) are a high-water mark in model kit design. They're not exactly an easy build, but they are very rewarding. Gratuitous pic of my 356 Speedster build below... 3
Mark Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 Everything for sale on eBay is rare; some items are very rare. Just ask the seller. eBay Motors advertises X million parts. And, in whatever search you do, all of them fit every vehicle ever made. Seriously, the Testors kit is a reboxed Fujimi ES kit, and a very good one at that. Fujimi has done some curbside Porsche kits, but to my knowledge none of those were 356s; all of the 356 kits are full detail and then some. 1
Ace-Garageguy Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 3 hours ago, NOBLNG said: Is this kit worth $50? In a word, YES. The Fujimi 356 Porsches...and 911s too...are among the best kits ever offered for anything. 1
NOBLNG Posted January 11, 2023 Author Posted January 11, 2023 I must say I am a little intimidated by what I read about this kit. It’s apparently highly detailed and requires a lot of care and patience to build….and I gotta say, patience is not one of my best qualities.? GeeBee (Geoff) did a super nice build thread on it here, and it turned out beautifully. Thanks Geoff! http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/73464-fujimi-porsche-356c-2000gs-convertible/
NOBLNG Posted January 12, 2023 Author Posted January 12, 2023 (edited) It’s mine now! Thanks for egging me on everyone.? Edited January 12, 2023 by NOBLNG 2
oldcarfan Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 I'd say it's worth it. I bought that same kit twenty years ago and paid $40-something then. It is highly detailed and to me was pretty fiddly to assemble.

BeakDoc Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 I won’t speak to how rare it may or may not be, but $50 is a fair price in my eyes. Don’t be intimidated by the parts count as it goes together like a dream. The only thing I’d warn you about is that the front cowl is very delicate. Mine broke while polishing out the clear coat. If you like 356s, I think you’ll find that it was money well spent. 1
