niteowl7710 Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 Alright so the point of this thread will be to keep track of the SJR kits for 2023. There are expected to be nearly 30 kits released in 1Q & 2Q of this year alone. January - 2023 Camaro - No revisions to the tooling as the the car continues relatively unchanged. Once this production run is done (as the Mustang tool is in-house for February releases) the missing driver's side roof rail will be addressed for Camaro releases beyond these first two kits. 1500 pcs per kit. #9 is the Club Kit, so 500 of those are already gone. SJR also has commitments to make the other two Hendrick Primary Liveries, the Legacy MC (nee Petty/GMS) Primaries, and Trackhouse Primaries in Camaros this year. Plus other speciality liveries (Patriotic, Throwback, Secondary Sponsorships) are possible. 2 1

Justin Porter Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 Happy to see the Penske Mustangs on their way primarily because Ohio is Blaney territory on account of the family's sprint car exploits so we'll doubtless move a few.

Powerslide is going to do a sheet for his Menard's Primary with multiple hood associate sponsor options from 2022 next month too.
TonyK Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 Don't care about these two. Let me know when the Ryan Blaney model is out.
stavanzer Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 I've never gotten a Salvino's kit. The record still stands...... 3 1
kentak Posted January 17, 2023 Posted January 17, 2023 I'm looking forward to these releases, don't understand the negativity. Are there problems with Salvino kits? Ken 2

Ken Ignore it. Kits are coming fast, doing interesting stuff. It’s not just Alan, matter of fact that’s first time I’ve seen post like that. But many others regularly post in threads about disinterest. Big 2 got burned by NASCAR, so good to see it back, even if I last cared in 70’s. Too far from stock anymore, but cool tube frame, BF motors, and more corners may drag me back. Turning into decent Trans-Am/endurance racers, drag them off to Mulsanne and I’m in. 3
Bill Eh? Posted January 17, 2023 Posted January 17, 2023 Curious to understand the reasoning behind posting in a thread to state the fact that it doesn't interest them. 6

stavanzer Posted January 18, 2023 Posted January 18, 2023 To Respond to others. I want to like the Salvino's kits. I've watched HPI Guy assemble enough of them. But, the current crop of NASCAR kits are even less interesting (to me) than the older kits, that made Salvino's famous. Also, I have noted that many commenter's here, will post similar thoughts. i am by far not the only one. (search for comments, that say "Meh") Given the fact that Salvino has expanded their offerings to Asphalt Modified Racers, sooner or later, they will kit a subject that I want. It just has not happened yet. 2
keyser Posted January 18, 2023 Posted January 18, 2023 @stavanzerHey Alan- I tried to not single you out, I truly enjoy your responses. It was unusual so I failed to generalize better I guess. Mea culpa. ????♂️ I do love a good meme, and there are far more repetitive shrugs. TBH I haven’t bought any either, but I like efforts.

It just has not happened yet. They are planning on releasing 9 vintage-era kits this year from what I understand, along with the 3 modern cars (Ford, Chevy, Toyota). If they don't interest you that's fine. But for me and others who are interested in the new kits, it comes across as rude when people come in to loudly proclaim their disinterest. Just....scroll on by. I don't have interest in the modifieds but a lot of people do, that's great. I've built a ton of the Salvino's kits and have enjoyed both the modern and the vintage-era cars. I just finished a build of Richard Petty's Roadrunner that I posted in the Nascar forum and that was a really fun kit to assemble and it came out great. And when the Toyota comes out I'll happily build that one too as I have some Bubba Wallace decals ready to go. Build what brings you joy, and let others do the same. Thanks for coming to my TED talk. I let my fingers do the talking this time instead of not commenting. Mostly, I do read, and never say a thing. My Fault. 1

Daddyfink Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 It is nothing against Salvinos or their kits, it is just what I find interesting or not. Their kits are very nice, and I do have a few of their early types, but the new stuff just does not interests me. But, if the crank your handle, have at it and who cares what we think. Yes, some have to just voice our feelings sometimes, some with a simple meh or yawn, and some with outright disdain. But that is the way of the boards. It all can't be Rainbows and Puppy Dogs. But, all threads end in some crazy Mopar Hub Cap discussion anyway!
TonyK Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 I've built many Salvino's kits and find them enjoyable. They are different than other models and that sometimes creates a challenge. Somehow I got lucky and got the two new Modified kits and I'm sure they will be a challenge too but their kits always seem to go together well in the end. As for the comments from people liking or disliking models, that's fine with me. Message boards are my way of communicating with fellow modelers and I want to hear their opinions. My personal comment of not being interested in the two Penske Fords is because I don't care much for the drivers but I'm a fan of Ryan Blaney so hope that model will be produced after the others.
Oldriginal86 Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 I like the look of the new generation kits coming out. My question, is the chassis from one Chevy car to the next the same? Is the new Ford cars chassis the same as the Chevys offered recently. I feel that building the same exact chassis each time is, well, redundant. I would like to see the body/glass and decals offered as a separate and cheaper alternative to purchasing an entire kit to display the body and throwing the chassis in the spare parts. I realize that the older Monogram kits were a bit cookie cutter chassis but each team had their own interior and roll cage color scheme. I will eventually build a new Nascar kit, just haven’t made the purchase.

I will eventually build a new Nascar kit, just haven’t made the purchase. The real things all use the same chassis, that's part of the point of the Next Gen cars. They're "spec" race cars and share almost all of the same parts under the body shell to reduce costs. It's also part of the reason Petty/GMS won a race last year, there were over 20 different winners, and Trackhouse almost won a Championship. The small teams are able to be instantly competitive, at least until the big multi-car teams can figure out some sort of dominant edge like they used to have. I understand what you're saying in terms of being repetitive if you were to build a half dozen of them, but the kit isn't really designed to have the body shell popped on and off once you build it either.
Oldriginal86 Posted January 20, 2023 Posted January 20, 2023 Since what we do here is left to our imagination and creativity, it looks like the Intimidator will be in a next gen Camaro with a red chassis and Goodwrench sponsorship. 2

1972coronet Posted February 14, 2023 Posted February 14, 2023 I have a copy of the 1971 Petty Belvedere and am overall pleased with it. I love that Salvino's is doing well, and that their fanbase is supporting them. Even though their subject matter doesn't interest me outside of the real Stock Car offerings (more so the 70's Chargers and Belvederes), I applaud their efforts, their offerings. Best of all? They're MADE IN THE U.S.A. 1
