I just picked up the latest release, and believe it or not, this is the first time this kit has ever found its way into my stash. If you are familiar with my work at all, you know I'm sure as heck, not going to build it as an Ala Kart.

So, in the spirit of creativity and imagination, please show us what else you guys did with the kit. Gotta get the creative juices flowing!

Rob, is this a current Round 2 release? I noticed it might have come out a couple of months ago and it looked like, besides being Ala-Kart only, it had much of the original tolling with the larger motor molding and some suspension differences and possibly pad printed tires and chrome wheels.

As far as what I've ever done with any Ala Kart parts it's exclusively the bucket shell and almost nothing else. I've seen something terrific builds that stay much closer to the brilliant Barris design and yet extend or vary it in wonderfully creative ways, but in my case it;s a much simpler approach, an "A-Bucket" kind of thing...

Are those the RMoM gas tanks?

No. The rat rod tank was made by me from scratch to comform to the back of the bucket. The tank on the V-12 was also scratch built by me. The tank on the Show Rod is a 3D print made by Chris Drysdale at Maple Leaf Modelworks available on Shapeways (see : https://www.shapeways.com/product/RAPQ683EW/1-25-oblong-fuel-tank-w-brackets?optionId=63103067&li=shops )

There are some really great parts in the Ala Kart kit. I have used the chrome reverse wheels and white wall tires on a number of builds. Most recently I used the suspension components, exhaust system, steering wheel and taillights on a Deuce 3-W.

The first Ala Kart is the one I built in 1966, no paint (didn't have the extra 69 cents for a spray can) but I did add red pinstripes.

The second is the re-done issue from 20 years ago. I built it as a highboy with Ardun heads and pearl white paint.

Bernard, I assume so. I got it from my LHS. Thanks for posting your work, as always it's hot rod gold.

Howard, I dig the highboy.

This is my take-off from an Ala Kart starting point using a '32 Vicky body and Fred Cady decals.

And here is another approach to the "not so Ala Kart" concept. It's an AMT '34 Ford pickup and it shares nothing with the Ala Kart except the spirit.
