doorsovdoon Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 Yep, it's that time again:) The MPC 1969, and '68, Dodge Charger that I have such a fondness for, but this time it's two of them... and it's not the Country Charger! Found them on the Bay for £29 partially built and painted. I won't be going my usual route of huge modifications on these, just straight out the box as simple as they are. So if one day someone feels like stripping them and building them again, they can.? 1
doorsovdoon Posted January 21, 2023 Author Posted January 21, 2023 Paint stripped. Gonna go with the box art on these, if I can get my local print shop to reproduce the decals.
AMT68 Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 Lol...you couldn't resist another Charger. There's something really neat about picking up the old vintage kits. 1
1972coronet Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 Sweet deal ! Especially for $35 (+/-) U.S. ! I notice the Revell 1968 Charger plain steel wheel(s) in one of the boxes; those'll be nice for your spare parts bin. Quite forward to watching your progress! 1

The listing only had two pictures so I didn't know there was two kits in the box until it arrived in the post. The plain steels are from the Revell '68 Mustang GT. I threw them in there hoping to use them on the '69 as the kit is missing all the tyres. Edited January 21, 2023 by doorsovdoon 1

I've always wanted to do a 'restoration' on a used kit, love seeing restoration builds on the forum, so when this duo showed up while browsing ebay I couldn't buy it fast enough, lol. 1
Can-Con Posted January 22, 2023 Posted January 22, 2023 This is really cool Gareth. Rare to see a couple Charger annuals together like that. [I have a '69 and '70 myself] I think you should take the leftover custom parts and use them on one of the reissue '69s and paint it close to the color these were originally painted. 1

Yes, very unusual to find them in such nice condition too and not the usual glue bombs. I was debating weather to build them, but some of the parts are missing and off the trees, and they'd already been partially built, so won't feel too guilty building them up. I will be using the custom parts, but as you suggest on a later re-issue. No tears will be shed cutting up a Country Charger, haha. 1
Spottedlaurel Posted January 22, 2023 Posted January 22, 2023 Look forward to seeing what you can do with them Gareth, good luck! Must be quite a rarity in the UK, but given what they were like getting them built is definitely the right thing to do. 1

Still, I won't be doing any irreversible mods on these as they are still in very good shape. I don't think I need to use any glue either except maybe the engine, which will be water based where needed, so collectors needn't cringe here, Lol.
doorsovdoon Posted February 3, 2023 Author Posted February 3, 2023 Got some decals done. My local print shop scanned the originals and cleaned them up. 1
