I have completed The Beast. A total of 22 hours from start to finish. I watched a few videos on weathering and did my best. It was a lot of fun and I will do it again. The seat took about 2 hours. I ground the seat for the holes. I then used aluminum wire for the springs and rusted them. I put painters tape over the seat and made the cuts. Then painted the exposed “seat foam” and finish painted the blue seat cover then added the oil stains. I used the salt method, paint and rust inhibitors on the body and finished it with a light yellow color that was close to the 1953 Ford F100 original color. I added the rusted Ibeam for the bumper...you never know when you will need to take a tree down!

Thanks for looking and I hope you like it.

Enjoyed watching the creative process on this build. The finish fits well with how this would be used. You might want to get the driver a pillow to sit on.

Turned out awesome Dave!  Really cool subject and very well executed. The whole thing is well done , but that seat is brilliant.

Cheers, Steve

Thanks Steve! This whole build was really fun! I looked online for seat weathering.

Fantastically different! I can't find any WIP for this and have just one question. What scale size are the tracks that you used please?

Pat, thank you for your comment!

The tank parts are from a 1/30th scale tank model.

The WIP is here - I titled it like that because I didn't have a name for it at that time.

Thanks David. I've looked at the WIP link, brilliant! I was looking at the shorter tank track units for cars/jeeps that have 4 units one for each corner, but for me as a pensioner at £45 that's expensive!

Hi Pat,

Thanks again!

I too, am retired and on a fixed income.

I don't know what swap meets for models you have on the other side of the pond but I have gone to military model swap meets and picked up tank parts there for very reasonable prices. Also I mostly buy bagged parts from other model swap meets. Being that I like to scratch build I can use all the bagged parts.

As for the tank treads I shortened them for this build. I actually stapled the cut ends together and hid the seam under the fender I fabricated.

Thanks Dave, We only have one major annual event here in November each year. Local clubs are few and far between and are mostly military only, so I don't join them.
