stavanzer Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 (edited) I've got the new MPC Supra. I want to try to replace the tires with something I like better. I have two sets of old American Satco tires. Which set would work better? 10012 DUNLOP SP9-185/60R14 10011 BRIDGESTONE TIRE-165/70R14 Or, is neither set any good. Also. Does anybody want the set I don't Need? Edited February 2, 2023 by stavanzer
Bainford Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 I'm not sure which set would look best without the kit in front of me. I would, however, be very interested in the set you don't need. I've been trying to find some decent 14" and 13" tires for a couple projects. If you wish to sell or trade for a set, send me a PM. Cheers.
jaymcminn Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 I'd go with the 185/60. Lower profile than stock, but better looking in scale. 165mm would be much narrower than stock.
stavanzer Posted February 3, 2023 Author Posted February 3, 2023 Thanks. Dunlops it is, then. Anybody else have an opinion?
peteski Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 I have never actually measured model kit tires and see how accurately sized they are compared to what the writing on their sidewall shows. I suspect that they aren't accurately scaled (width, overall diameter, and the wheel diameter). So I guess my answer would be "use whatever looks good". 1
stavanzer Posted February 6, 2023 Author Posted February 6, 2023 Well, I have the Supra kit. I'll do a Tire Comparo tomorrow.
stavanzer Posted February 7, 2023 Author Posted February 7, 2023 And, I opened the kit, and looked at the tires. Jason was correct, the Dunlop 185's are the best choice. The Bridgestones were just way too small. Trevor, hit me up in the messages.
