Hmann68 Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 Hope everyone is doing good! A friend of mine found 2 of these kits unopened for a decent price. He gave me one if I’d build the other for him. He wanted it box stock but I added plug wires. Certainly not the greatest kit ever, but I’ve always liked JoHan stuff and it’s a cool subject for sure. Tamiya paints. Stripes are paint. The blue is much darker in the photos than in person. Thanks for looking as always! ?? 16 1
M W Elky Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 Nice job ? you just can’t beat the looks of the Sox & Martin red white and blue.

TooOld Posted February 9, 2023 Posted February 9, 2023 Beautiful 'Bird Chris ! There's nothing wrong with JoHan kits and they have some of the most accurate bodies ever done . 1
Zippi Posted February 9, 2023 Posted February 9, 2023 Pretty sharp looking build. Looks just like the box art. NIce job. 1
TarheelRick Posted February 9, 2023 Posted February 9, 2023 Indeed, a beautiful rendition of the Sox & Martin Superbird. Very good job with the paint, especially those stripes - they are a masterful job.
R. Thorne Posted February 9, 2023 Posted February 9, 2023 Oh, I like that a lot. Old school Super Stockers rule! Original decals? Did you consider darkening the door, windshield vents, and front “snout” panel lines? Still another kit I have to keep my eyes open for at a reasonable price. Thank you for posting this beautiful car.

Thank you for posting this beautiful car. Thank you guys. I just used the kit decal stripes as a guide for the width, and then I use nothing but Tamiya tape. It can’t be beat IMO. Yes R. Thorne I hear you on all the panel lines, if it was going in my display I sure would’ve. But he’s more than happy with it, and was itching to get it and I was running out of time lol. ?

doorsovdoon Posted February 9, 2023 Posted February 9, 2023 Nice clean build. As basic as they are I wish Jo-Han was still popping out kits today.
TonyK Posted February 9, 2023 Posted February 9, 2023 Great looking model! Always thought this car looked odd as a drag racer.

R. Thorne Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 The customer is always right, Christopher. I appreciate the replies. I like the “copperish “ wash on the alternator . Thanks for reminding me to get some microscale decal saver. So, when are you gonna build your own model of this car?

It’s in the stash, still in the shrink wrap along with Johan’s Drag on lady AMX that he also gave me, still wrapped. ???? 1

Bainford Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 Nice build. As mentioned above, I too think Superbirds and Daytonas make odd looking drag cars. Still very cool, though. You did a nice job on this classic kit. Good job on saving the decals, some of those JoHan decals don't age well. Your masked paint lines are nice and crisp. Well done.
jjsipes Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 Looks great. Can't go wrong with Sox and Martin. I have a couple of these kits in my stash, just need time to get around to them.
