AMT 66 Bird

Waiting for good weather to paint the Deora and a 69 Dart I have 90% done so started on a 1966 Thunderbird kit I got a long time ago from someone on a site.

It is a 1987 kit that had been reshrink wrapped.

I just opened it today and it is complete including all this retro stuff.

The putty is even softening up under the lamp!

Plan to build it stock.

Hope you have fun with this model kit. Brings back memories of my building a '66 T-Bird when I was a teenager. Baby Blue and a White/Baby Blue combination on the interior. Will be watching from the sidelines. ?

Yup. I got one off of ebay a couple months ago, missing the tail light lens. You have my attention.

Always liked this kit. I have one in Boyd’s teal Pearl I built in the 90’s..

This is one from my "Cars From My Life" list as my mother had a rather hopped up '66 in the mid '70s so I will be joining the list of followers.

Dark metallic green, black vinyl roof with brown interior.

Just finished the interior.

Only add on was a geat shift on the column that AMT left out.

Finally got the bad paint off, the hard way as nothing seemed to touch it, even a two month long soak in the purple pond nor easy off!

Ended up with a lot of careful sanding and brake fluid.

Probably last WIP post on this one.

It is going together.

Just worked on the taillights.

Used old foil out of a cigarette box .

Been using that same piece for around 30 years and still have a lot left.

Looks great, the recessed area around the lens would look nice with a little black wash ??
