espo Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 Great looking old Chevy. The old 292 was an under rated engine even back when they were common in many Drag Classes. The high gears may hurt the acceleration a little, but the 292 is a torque engine. The body looks pretty clean, especially considering its age. Had a '52 during my misspent youth but it was a stock 215 3 speed.
presnell Posted February 10, 2023 Author Posted February 10, 2023 You're right had a3.42 gear in it for awhile and it spun alot even when you did'nt want to and the 2.42 is really good on the highway,as you said they make TORQUE.
presnell Posted February 17, 2023 Author Posted February 17, 2023 I love them too, I always wanted a 49 cause that was the year i was born. Had a chance to buy this one about 20 yrs ago, had a worn out big block and a not so good AOD trans so I had the 292 it runs alot better now.
