The Logan Ave Slot car Track in Belvedere IL is no more. I went there yesterday and closed for good. I should of went there more often. Mid-America in Buffalo Grove IL is now the closest to me. 45 minutes away.

I worked in a hobby shop that had a track. LOTS of room needed without a big return on investment.  And with online racing that draws many that might run slots. Tough biz.

I travel roughly 100 miles roundtrip to the track I race at in Archdale,NC.
As I see it there are not too many young kids interested in slot cars.
There is one youngster of about 13 years old that races occasionally.
Next youngest is about in his middle 30"s.
The majority of the regulars are 55+ with the majority of the "old timers" being in their mid to late 60's
I'm one of them at 69!

There was a HUGE Daytona like track in a basement in Hickory NC for many years. It was so big it was hard to see your car at the far end!!! Wonder what happened to it....or is it still in that basement. I moved to WV from Charlotte in 2001 so I have not checked!!

I'll have to ask the local folks about it.
I moved to NC in '93 but didn't get back into commercial slot racing until around '05.
