Now admit it, your parts box is a cargo container right? Just 2 of the GTP J7s. The extra front end for the MPC was a surprise and I still don't know where it came from. Gramps46
Trying again to paint and mask and paint the front bonnet and top of door sides. Bought a fresh jug of the purple Super Clean and took the rest of the paint off. Got out the scribe to clean out the panel lines. I am using the newly found clear front piece. Will paint the body parts with Tamiya X-2 white. Using the narrow Tamiya tape again except this time seal the mask edge with X-22 clear before painting the front panel with a 50-50 mix of X-14 and X-4 blue with my Badger 200. Forgot the Tamiya fine white primer to get a consistent base color with the tail. Let me know if you see any flaws with this plan.
Pierre Rivard
Might I suggest taping the edge with Tamiya 2mm tape for curves 87177, if you are not already doing it. It's a plastic tape that stretches so curves are very easy to do, and thin so no bleed through. I've has good success with it.
Gramps46
I do have the Tamiya 2mm tape for curves and tried a test run and it seems to work pretty well. I also tired the 3M Fine Line tape 218 and it did not take to the curves as well I thought so once the white body color is dry I'll use the tape for curves and see how that goes. Thanks for your input.

Gramps46
Well once again I screwed up. The center stripe should be black like the sill strips, not blue. Fortunately I have a Cady decal sheet with the right size stripes.

I may have to go back and fix mine.
Gramps46
The chassis is back together again. I had to rebuild the front spindles and modify the wheel attachment to get the tires to fit under the body properly. The chassis is painted to match the box art but I decided no to mess with it since it won't be seen.

Gramps46
It has taken quite awhile but I am nearing to the end. Today I got the windows in after cleaning up some glue marks. Next will be fitting the rear spoiler.
Gramps46
After over a month of searching I finally figured why the spoiler would not fit. The middle opening in the tail was too high! Fixed that and here is the spoiler mounted. Here is a mock up before gluing the body in place. And now gluing the body to the chassis using the world's oldest XACTO clamps. The next photos will be in the Under Glass section. Thank you all for watching this long project. Edited July 26, 2023 by Gramps46
