1975 Datsun Pickup

My intention on building this one, other than getting it out of my closet, was to find a new primer that I can use. The primer I was using was Brite Touch. It was a inexpensive primer that sold for under $5 for a 10  oz. can before inflation at O'Reilly and Advance auto parts. It last sold for $9.99 a can. I bought the last 6 cans from Advance that they had in stock at the warehouse and I an down to 1 can left. It was made by Sherwin Williams and is no longer being manufactured. So I tried a new brand called NOW at O'Reilly but it left little bumps on the surface. Maybe I got a bad can so I may try another but for this build I was trying Rustoleum Primer. It really is too thick, takes too long to dry and is too dark in color for my liking. 

So on this one I thought I would just clear it trying to emulate the new car colors of today's cars that are what a I call shiny dull colors. After multiple trips through the Oven Cleaner I have this one to the point that I think I accomplished the shiny dull look and frankly, its still not great but I am tired of messing with it. Some just don't work out. So here are a few photos in progress. The hood is in the Oven Cleaner again. Maybe I'll finish it tomorrow. its supposed to rain for the next couple of days. I have another build in the works with the body painted so I can finish this one and rub out the other one in the next couple of days. Thanks for looking!

This one is done, not very well but it is done. Finally was able to re-paint the hood. Added the kit decals and that's all folks!
