Steamboat Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 This is a model of the Vice Grip Garage Independence Chevelle from YouTube. If you are not familiar with the channel, check it out, it very cool. The car was rescued from the dead and turned into a high horsepower burnout car. The color scheme was on the car when he bought it, and he tried to preserve it as much as he could. I started with an AMT '72 Chevelle. Most of the engine is either resin or 3d printed. The seats, steering wheel, interior door skins, shifter, e-brake mechanism, and wheels are also 3d printed. Paint is mostly craft paint, weathered with pastel chalks. Enjoy! 8
Dentz Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 That's fantastic! I love VGG. Fan and Member. Been watching since 2018. Great job on the lil details like the steering wheel, paint can spills etc. Gonna do Liberty next? I'm gonna take a stab at an Independence model soon. Anyone here that likes cars.. LOL... check out Vice Grip on Youtube. It's the best 1
Steamboat Posted March 25, 2023 Author Posted March 25, 2023 Not Liberty next, but definitely another VGG car. '72 Chevelles are hard to come by, and I'm already doing another one for a "cars I've owned" collection. Monte Borrow would be fun, or maybe Vanishing Paint or Betty White. So many to choose from. 1
Belugawrx Posted March 26, 2023 Posted March 26, 2023 Nice job on Independence ?? One of my favorite YouTube channels Cheers
1972coronet Posted March 26, 2023 Posted March 26, 2023 The car he'd purchased in Indi-an-Anna which smelled like gym socks and Wheaties ! Great work on replicating its 540 cube Mark IV, shifter, seating, etc., etc., and especially that paint scheme ! Another huge fan of Vice Grip Garage here.
David G. Posted March 26, 2023 Posted March 26, 2023 I'm not familiar with the channel but I do know good modelbuilding when I see it. You've done a great job with the distressed paint, weathering and engine details! David G.
doorsovdoon Posted March 26, 2023 Posted March 26, 2023 Looks great. Looks very accurate to the real thing! Wonder if Round2 will do an official release. It's probably just as famous as some Hollywood cars they done. 1
Dragline Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 Also a fan of VGG and this is spot on. Like someone else said. It's all the little things.
Dentz Posted April 7, 2023 Posted April 7, 2023 AWESOME. Your model met Derek at the Freedom 500 eh? It was shown on the new episode that just dropped. Nice stuff! Way to go!

We didn't go to the Freedom 500 on Friday, we went to the Cleetus and Cars burnout contest on Saturday. We got to see some burnout cars up close and see what makes them go. The formula is pretty obvious: gobs of blown, methanol injected horsepower in a light car with about a 80:20 front to rear weight ratio! Pickup trucks rule. The scoring rules were that to score maximum, they needed to pop both tires within 2 minutes. Only a handful of cars did it. There was a beautiful metallic blue '71 or '72 Chevelle in the contest that nearly made me cry, he rear ended the wall and turned a $40,000 car into a $500 junker in the blink of an eye! Here's Independence as it looks now. 1
Dentz Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 Ouch. I couldn't imagine taking a cherry classic into the burnout ring for just that reason. Much more fun when it's a beater. Less nerve wracking.
MackThomas Posted January 16, 2024 Posted January 16, 2024 Excellent build> Where could I get the engine, shifter and steering wheel? Thanks

Thanks Sorry, I didn't see the reply until now. If you still need the parts, PM me. I can print some copies of the parts I made for the build.

Seen Vice Grip Garage via the show Roadworthy Rescues on TV; one of my favourite shows; do you know by any chance when the next season of that show is coming? Also really cool model.
Steamboat Posted November 20, 2024 Author Posted November 20, 2024 I have heard that there will be a season 3. Forgot the date, but it will be in the next few weeks. 1
