High altitude scale modeling YouTube channel has posted a video of an unboxing of the production kit. It looks like the guys at Moebius corrected the grille to a ‘72 from a ‘71 in the test shots, the standard interior seat and door cards are included instead of the XLT parts in the test shots and surprisingly, the wheels have been chromed. Now I need to move this kit up on my priority list because those chrome wheels are going to look fantastic on my ramp truck.

The chrome wheels are available separately from Pegasus Hobbies (the owners of Moebius).

Yeah, I know, but using the wheels in this kit that I plan on buying anyway means I don’t have to pay for another set.

I ordered one... $36-ish from House of Burbank Hobbies. This is a good eBay vendor I've dealt with in the past.

I see others on eBay now, the one for $112 seems to be stagnant. Another is up for $79.99.

Very close to wrapping up one of mine. So far my only gripe specific to this kit is that the assembly sequence for the wrecker boom could be clearer. But if this doofus figured it out you probably won't have any problems.

There's also a little Easter egg on the chrome sprue... A pair of '65/66 style F250 fender emblems. And Moebius does provide duplicates for some of the boom components.

Mine's mostly going to be box stock but with a few little changes and additions.

Got mine yesterday, along with the 72 Ranger snowplow. Thanks to you cats, gonna build this wrecker with the plow.

It's my first Moebius, and I'm impressed. Finished the engine, now working on the interior.

The plan is to paint and weather it, missing hood and headlight, to look like Tow Mater (but sans eyes or teef), and a shiny new yellow plow.

Great job, Moebius! Gone git 'er done, good buddy!

Can the 2WD Moebius truck chassis be swapped into it? I'd like to build a 2WD version.

Or what would be the best kit just to swap the bed and wrecker parts into?

Looks great, Chuck!
Thanks for the heads-up on the F-250 badges.

Should be straightforward. The 2wd and 4x4 frames are different but everything lines up. The kit includes a spare pair of 2wd front wheels so you could swap in the chassis from the '68 F250 and just attach the dually wheels from the wrecker.

One club member has a 2WD kit open and will bring it to the next meeting, so I will find out in a few weeks.

The difference between the F350 chassis and the other Ford 100-250 chassis is the wheelbase.  The F350 has a longer wheelbase by about 6 inches when you set the two side by side.  I used modelers license  to relocate the rear suspension from the 1968 F250 2wd back about .25 inches.  Hope this helps.

Here's an F250 4x4 that had a dually axle swapped in (and '87-'96 dually outer fenders adapted).

Because true F350 duallys use the same wheel front and back, it has special heavy duty hubs in front for the offset on the wheels.

In scale, I guess you can just build whatever looks good to you ^_^

Just an interesting anecdote about this kit.

I took this kit to an IPMS meeting last week and showed it (open box) to the members. I was a pleasantly surprised at the interest from the military guys, much more interest than I get from other model kits I have shown over the years. A couple of the military guys are now planning to get one.

Been doing a little cutting on mine.

Front axle is getting Working steering added.

Did that on ALL the other Moebius pickup kits, so...

Will do, Brain, thank you! Almost done trimming and gluing all the subassemblies, working on the boom and rigging and stuff out back.

I owe you the world for the idea for the snowplow, thanks!

I've never weathered anything before, so this should be fun!
