Got this to practice on.detail, fit is so bad couldn't do much. Did the Frame with cinnamon brown craft paint/fine sand(next time use a screen), blackwashed the floor then a few coats of rust mix. Used arm/Hamer advanced toothpaste on scratches in minutes. Chrome is tinfoil.

What I learned: can't do metallic in air brush. Card painting letters not for me. Elmer's clear doesn't hold tinfoil well. Don't buy MPC again.

I have that kit and empathize with you of the fit issues thru my test fitting. I haven't started building it yet.
Btw, I just used Aleen's Sticky Glue on some tin foil and it worked quite well. You can get it from Michael's.

It's a challenging kit, as a lot of older kits can be, but don't be put off by your experience. There are some great looking builds done of that kit and worse kits! You probably learned more than you realize, and if you built the same kit again, I bet it would turn out much better, since you know now what to watch for, and where the extra work is needed. I'm curious about your statement concerning not being able to airbrush metallic?
