Mittagskind Posted June 22, 2023 Posted June 22, 2023 This Heller-kit of an Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 I bought many years ago. It was very down-priced because it was already started. Then I got another kit of the same kind. So the started kit kept unused in the cabinet. Now I found it again. I thought, this is the opportunity to create my first attempt of an used, aged and weathered model car. I´ve never done that before. 2
Ace-Garageguy Posted June 22, 2023 Posted June 22, 2023 I'll be very interested to see this project come together.
dino246gt Posted June 22, 2023 Posted June 22, 2023 That looks interesting, LOVE that drawing on the instructions, build it and show us how you do it! Ciao!

beeRS Posted June 22, 2023 Posted June 22, 2023 I never knew of the existence of this kit! I'll be watching with interest.

Mittagskind Posted June 24, 2023 Author Posted June 24, 2023 First I´ve made the tires some older. i scratched them with a rough sandpaper and rub them with dust from scratching. Hope you can see the difference. 1
Mittagskind Posted July 1, 2023 Author Posted July 1, 2023 (edited) Now aged the chassis using some color cosmetics (that seems some cheaper than to use the professional colors from the hobby store) and finished with a very thin cover of mat clear coat. Edited July 1, 2023 by Mittagskind 2
Straightliner59 Posted July 1, 2023 Posted July 1, 2023 Good call. I've been considering experimenting with that, as well. 1
Mittagskind Posted July 8, 2023 Author Posted July 8, 2023 (edited) I´ve painted the engine in an aged look and assembled it. The ignition cables and decals were added. They aren´t part of the kit. Edited July 9, 2023 by Mittagskind
Mittagskind Posted July 9, 2023 Author Posted July 9, 2023 I have to find another solution for the ignition cables. The first variation doesn´t fit with the firewall.
lordairgtar Posted July 10, 2023 Posted July 10, 2023 Find a smaller gauge wire. The original choice seemed too thick. Might help your clearance issues as well.. 30awg or 32awg might work better.

There was not enough space for the ignition distributor that I preferred. Meanwhile I've found another solution. This should fit.

Mittagskind Posted July 15, 2023 Author Posted July 15, 2023 There is some progress. Next I've to paint and mount the hood. Then will follow the assembly of the little parts, head light, rear lights, windshield...

Rattlecan Dan Posted July 17, 2023 Posted July 17, 2023 For a first attempt at aging or weathering I'd say you did great. Much nicer than the box stock red plastic look. Good job.
