This Heller-kit of an Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 I bought many years ago. It was very down-priced because it was  already started. Then I got another kit of the same kind. So the started kit kept unused in the cabinet. Now I found it again.

I thought, this is the opportunity to create my first attempt of an used, aged and weathered model car. I´ve never done that before.

First I´ve made the tires some older. i scratched them with a rough sandpaper and rub them with dust from scratching. Hope you can see the difference.20230624_210441.thumb.jpg.8d9954706212f7fc94fa0c3506ce674e.jpg

Now aged the chassis using some color cosmetics (that seems some cheaper than to use the professional colors from the hobby store) and finished with a very thin cover of mat clear coat.

I´ve painted the engine in an aged look and assembled it. The ignition cables and decals were added. They aren´t part of the kit.

Find a smaller gauge wire. The original choice seemed too thick. Might help your clearance issues as well.. 30awg or 32awg might work better.

Thanks Gregory. But the thickness of the wire isn't the problem. There was not enough space for the ignition distributor that I preferred. Meanwhile I've found another solution. This should fit.

There is some progress. Next I've to paint and mount the hood. Then will follow the assembly of the little parts, head light, rear lights, windshield...

For a first attempt at aging or weathering I'd say you did great. Much nicer than the box stock red plastic look. Good job.

Thank you Donato. My next attempt will be a model in a bigger scale to get more details. I'll report.
