Jim B Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 Here is my competed AMT 1972 Chevrolet C10 fleetside pickup. This is the Coca-Cola kit that is molded in the Dreaded Red Plastic: The kit had the typical AMT fit quality, so I'll leave that at that. Thanks to tbill for the exterior orange & white painting. It's not perfect, but it's done; and I'm moderately pleased with the results. Yes, the trim could be better, and the bowtie on the grill is a little lopsided; but it'll look file on the shelf. I did add some spacers under the bed to raise it up a little as it had a little bit of a "droopy drawers" look to it. I don't know if it right, but it's straighter that it was. 6
bisc63 Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 Great 2-tone job. Very nice colors help make this such a sharp model. 1
89AKurt Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 Just because I owned a '69 and built a tribute, and currently own a '68, of course I like it! The important thing, you finished it, and didn't get bogged down correcting kit inaccuracies. 1
Jim B Posted June 30, 2023 Author Posted June 30, 2023 Thanks, guys. I appreciate the positive comments. I can't take full credit for the color choices. That was mostly Tom.
espo Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 Great looking color combo and the interior is a nice contrast. 1
1971Hans Posted July 1, 2023 Posted July 1, 2023 Still on my to-do list. Did it include the Coke-can beverage machine ?
Jim B Posted July 1, 2023 Author Posted July 1, 2023 Yes, it did, Hans. I think Round2 shoving the Coke machine into the box with the truck caused my steering wheel to be mangled. So, I requested a new steering wheel from Round2, and when it arrived it was just an mangled (if not worse) than the one in the kit!
TonyK Posted July 1, 2023 Posted July 1, 2023 Looks like teamwork produced a very nice looking model. 1
Jim B Posted July 1, 2023 Author Posted July 1, 2023 Thanks, Guys. Sometimes that's the only way to go, Tony.
Chuck Most Posted July 3, 2023 Posted July 3, 2023 "Typical AMT fit". You could have just said "absolutely nothing fits". ? Nice result on a notoriously janky kit. 1
Jim B Posted July 3, 2023 Author Posted July 3, 2023 Thanks, Chuck. Yes, the fit was pretty bad, and the red plastic didn't help may attitude with this kit, either. 1
ncbuckeye67 Posted July 6, 2023 Posted July 6, 2023 Great color choice on the two-tone! I really like the wood-grain accents.
grodudulle77 Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 Very nice build Jim, i really like the color !! ??
