Bronzekeg Posted July 2, 2023 Posted July 2, 2023 I haven't built this kit since it first came out. I built it like the box art as a kid. going a different route this time around. I have a can of cranberry paint I will be using as the main color. that's about all I know at this point. as usual c&c are welcome and thanks for looking.
Bronzekeg Posted July 3, 2023 Author Posted July 3, 2023 started assembling the engine. it's about ready for some paint. everything fit nice for an amt kit.
Bronzekeg Posted July 4, 2023 Author Posted July 4, 2023 engine pretty much completed except for the fan blade. hoses will be added later. 1
Rockford Posted July 4, 2023 Posted July 4, 2023 Good start. Nice Cummins. Looking forward to your updates. This is one of the few 1/25 kits I hope to build. It was my first 1/25 kit about 45 years ago. Didn't know what I was doing.

Bronzekeg Posted July 5, 2023 Author Posted July 5, 2023 happy with the finish on the outer rear wheels. also pictured are the untouched fronts for comparison. 1

Bronzekeg Posted July 7, 2023 Author Posted July 7, 2023 axles are mounted, time to make sure all wheels are touching the ground.
Bronzekeg Posted July 8, 2023 Author Posted July 8, 2023 I had to file the inside of both rear axle housings to get enough play for the middle axle wheels to sit properly. with that done I assembled the rest of the chassis that will all get painted the same color.
Bronzekeg Posted July 8, 2023 Author Posted July 8, 2023 got some paint put on the chassis. it's rust oleum so it will take several days to dry. I personally like the shade of red. need to start stripping the 5th wheel assembly and fuel tanks. 2
Bronzekeg Posted July 9, 2023 Author Posted July 9, 2023 engine and radiator installed along with the upper and lower hoses. started work on the battery box. 2

Bronzekeg Posted July 11, 2023 Author Posted July 11, 2023 worked on the fuel tanks today. straps and steps to be added next.
Rockford Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 Hang on, these tanks have moulded-in straps don't they? So I'm assuming you have rubbed them out, but what have you wrapped the barrel of the tank with? Looks like ali tape. You're hiding your light under a bushel mate. Please, do tell.
