Out here and wondering what good hobby shops are here and go to?

Heh... had you inquired Rochester, NY area LHS, I woukd have recommended Performance Hobbies in Webster.

There's nothing in Rochester MN.

 

I lived there for 30+ years, and maybe around 20 years ago, there was a great shop called "Moon's Hobby Shop".

A huge place in a strip mall off of highway 52 that had just about anything that you could think of.

But when the owner died, his wife closed it up, never to return.

 

I believe that all that's left is Hobby Lobby.
