espo Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 After seeing all the great looking builds of this kit, I wanted to build one as well. The body required only a light clean up. I did tuck the bumpers and the grill just a little. Lowered the suspension about a 1/4" front and rear. Used the kits Magnum wheels and tires. The engine has been wired and plumbed. The body color is painted Tamiya TS-89 Pearl Blue with a couple of coats of TS-65 Pearl Clear and a coat of TS-13 Clear. The interior is done with the Pearl Blue and TS-58 Pearl Light Blue and a dusting of Flat Clear to knock down the shine. I feel that Revelle has made many improvements with the way different components are attached as well as fitting together. The "glass" is remarkable thin and no fitment issues at all. The same can be said for the headlights and all the other lenses. Already have another in the "to do" pile. 12
Mittagskind Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 Well done, beautiful interior and engine. The hood seems some brighter, intended?
karbuildr Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 Really nice Chevelle. That engine compartment is the business, dude. I like your use of color in various ways and your clear coating process. 1
FatboyLowrider Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 Really nice job!! The brightwork is outstanding, 1
Erock Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 Looks good but hood is a different shade of blue....why?
TransAmMike Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 Looks great David, especially the engine and compartment? 1
70 Sting Posted July 20, 2023 Posted July 20, 2023 Absolutely gorgeous. Great interior and engine work. 1
XYHARRY Posted July 20, 2023 Posted July 20, 2023 I'm not a big fan of the 69 Chevelle but yours has shown me how cool they can look with the right stance and colour. That pearl blue looks great and I'll be getting a can next visit to the hobby store. Well done David and thanks for sharing. Cheers, David. ?? 1
Zippi Posted July 20, 2023 Posted July 20, 2023 Looks good David. The engine bay looks pretty sharp and I'm liking the blue. 1
AMT68 Posted July 20, 2023 Posted July 20, 2023 Very nicely detailed build. I really like the interior color scheme and it appears as though you've lowered the stance. 1
Slotto Posted July 20, 2023 Posted July 20, 2023 Great looking Chevelle David. Love the lowered look. Great engine details too. 1
happy grumpy Posted July 20, 2023 Posted July 20, 2023 That's a great build David, that engine looks really good with the added details. I agree, Revell did a great job on this kit. 1

Thankyou for looking, and you're correct about the hood. I think it may have gotten one less coat of blue since I was trying not to get a run as I was spraying a little more than I should have. Since it's more noticeable in bright lights I would repaint it if I ever put it a show. On 7/19/2023 at 4:00 PM, DoctorLarry said: Bare metal foil or Molotow ink? Looks great!

While I painted the body and the hood at the same time I think I may have given the hood one or two less coats of paint. I'm bad about using heavier coats of color and I may have been trying not to get a run on the hood. Since you wouldn't notice on the shelf, I'm going to leave it for now. Should I every want to show it I would redo the hood and try and match the color better. 1
