Classy.

There are areas down there that will get hit by flash flooding because the infrastructure isn't built for 4 inches of rain per hour (or more) and there also could be mudslides in the areas with burn scars.

Rain rain rain today here in Yucca Valley along with tons of wind. Staying at my boss's house taking care of his uncle and dog (while my boss and his partner enjoy Pebble Beach) and we lost a tree around 6pm:

I usually park my car right where that d@mned thing fell, but for once I parked it by the garage. Power is out for several blocks around here but this house is somehow still lit. Roof leaks like a sieve and I have around 15 buckets, bowls, and pots catching water. 

Supposed to be sunny around here tomorrow, fingers crossed. Thanks for your concern!

Thank you for your well wishes , @bobthehobbyguy. Murrieta here (north of San Diego/county off of I-15). As of 0850 hrs. on Monday, 21-8-2023 , it's been a "nothing burger" for the most part - I've seen worse. 

There was an earthquake in Ojai (Santa Barbara area, east-of) at 5.5 on the see-you-at-the-party-Richter-Scale. Someone's got a "sick sense of humour" , adding that atop the tropical storm, neh ? 

Sixty-one degrees this morning at 0645 hrs. Still quite humid (93%), but comfortable ne'er-the-less (esp. since temps have been in the 100's with 35% humidity, until Saturday. But, those searing days'll be back soon).

Thank you. Reality is it's no different than those who deal with the hurricane's wrath every year up and down along the eastern coast.

They will persevere just as we do on the east coast.

Hope you guys made it through with minimal property damage. It was fortunate that the storm did not hit with stronger force. Weather prediction is always Imprecise and things always have the potential for a major disaster.

Given the fact that our building codes are designed to minimize the damage from an earthquake rather than hurricanes. Just as building codes back east are designed for hurricanes rather than earthquakes.  A significant earthquake on the east coast could be devasting for the same reason.
