What are all of these tamiya color codes?

I see so many letters, and they don't make any sense to me. The search feature is weird too on their website because they go based on their colors.

I'm looking for a nice bright gloss red and a gloss black (both lacquer spray) What should I be looking for?

The TS line is the glossy paints intended for cars, AS is typically armor stuff and is flat or semi gloss. The PS paints are for polycarbonate RC bodies. X is for acrylic brush paints. Those are broad categories and there may be a few oddball in any line.

If you Google Tamiya TS color charts, you'll get a chart of the full range of colors with the corresponding paint code. If you're getting them at your local hobby shop, the colors on the caps are very accurate.

Their LP line of lacquer paint is excellent. A lot the bottle colors are the same as the TS rattle cans.
