iamsuperdan Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 I've been slowly digitizing all of my parents' old slides. These are from the mid-60s to the mid-80s. There are some cool cars in there. Here are some of the cars my mum & dad owned. Yes, this is me. And the end of our Torino. And this was my grandpa. Would love to find this car and bring it back to Canada, but according to the UK's DVLA site, it hasn't been registered since 1987, so I'm assuming this Reliant no longer exists. 3
iamsuperdan Posted September 13, 2023 Author Posted September 13, 2023 And here are some random car and truck pics my dad took over the years. I think this is Mosport, but could be wrong. Summer of '76, apparently. The mall is still around. Guessing that awesome Cougar is long dead. Dad knew I've always been into trucks. This was from '78. Yup, me again. Toronto, 1978 Edmonton, 1979 Moving to Edmonton, 1979 Tyrone Malone brought the show to Edmonton. I want to to say this was 1982. Could be 1983. Remember kids, safety third. Columbia Icefields here in Alberta. Take one of these buses onto the glacier. They still run these same buses today. A couple of years ago (literally,) one had the brakes fail, it rolled down the hill and killed a bunch of people. And this is what the buses replaced. 1987 I believe. 3
Mike C. Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 Cool thread. My mom's '77 Grand Prix. "Down the shore" Wildwood NJ circa 1978. My aunts are on the sidewalk. Old Brockway 10 wheel dump. My dad was in the excavation business some years back. Just after we painted it. 1
Mike C. Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 Same Brockway. Being painted in the shop. My cousins. Me and my '77 Westfalia bus. Certain 1987. That thing had an awful fuel injection system. Thats my old '72 Valient in the background. 1
Mike C. Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 Another one of my bus with the gang Avalon circa 1988. 1
Mike C. Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 (edited) My sister has a giant box of old family photos in her attic. She keeps telling me she's going to dig them out and were all going to have a good look at them. Lots of family car, truck and motorcycle pics. Lots of super 8 films. Mostly Christmas footage we want to have digitized for the future. Edited September 13, 2023 by Mike C.
Mike C. Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 Can't forget my 1970 GTO project car. The day I sold it (other is a '71 LeMans parts car). 2
Kenmojr Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 You've captured some precious memories. Many thanks for sharing....
Ulf Posted October 5, 2023 Posted October 5, 2023 Jaguar XJ40 1993 3,2 l. A cheaper model with the big engine but with a shorter stroke and no sport mode, a nice car. We had it in a garage on the island where we have our summer house. My brother-in-law got it when I got the Boxster from my wife. Before the digital era, we rented wrecks on the island, at that time old Volvos, some became favorites, they were quite adjusted dreams to drive.
von Zipper Posted October 6, 2023 Posted October 6, 2023 My dads 1956 Oldsmobile being a black / white picture, this is a color combo picture i found on line 2

A modeler named mike Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 (edited) Nice photos of your family cars Dan and the rest who posted. My dad had more cars than the years him and mom were married. They were hitched for 50 yrs. He was always trading in for a newer model or buying something that caught his eye. Here's a few of the many, not in any particular order. I'll have to dig up more when I have more time. My dads uncles old Ford. Dad's '31 Chevy roadster Dad's '41 Nash Dad's '50 Nash and my granddads '50 Ford Convertible Edited October 30, 2023 by A modeler named mike 1

Your one picture with the '50 Olds in it, the second car is misidentified as being a Nash and it's actually a '50 Ford Convertible. With a few Nash's in the lineup, it is easy to get them transposed. I like the '41 Nash that would have been fairly rare at the time.

A modeler named mike Posted October 31, 2023 Posted October 31, 2023 Found another gem today while going thru things. Not a car but one is in the photo so it should count. My Dad on my brothers BSA July of 1976. I think it's an early 70's bike? Dad was dressed for a bicentennial event that day. The beetle was bought new. The first few hundred miles was put on while he drove around looking for our lost Chihuahua. He even went through the farm fields in search. We did find the dog after a month of looking. Some boys from a nearby development had found her and claimed her as a pet until one of their neighbors realized it was the lost dog on the reward posters. 3
TonyK Posted October 31, 2023 Posted October 31, 2023 Lots of cool pictures. I've enjoyed looking at all my Dads slides from the past and the old movies but not gonna go through the time and expense to digitize them. We've had some fun with my son and his family looking at them but after that...... Sad to realize no one will really care after I'm gone.
RSchnell Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 Here's a few of mine: The first is of my great grandfather and his '26 Chevrolet, the 2nd pic is my grandmother with her '64 Thunderbird the last is the '59 Thunderbird my grandfather bought my grandmother for their 5th wedding anniversary. 3
A modeler named mike Posted January 27 Posted January 27 I stumbled on a photo of the 1980 AMC Spirit I bought new. It's only a 4 banger with 151 hp. It had the sporty look going for it so I slapped on a set of 15" Cragars with L50's on the rear and a set of Hi-jackers. I had a lot of fun with it, even if it was a slug.. 2
NOBLNG Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Unfortunately I didn’t own a camera until I was about 27 years old so I have no pictures of any family vehicles. My oldest sister had a camera so at least there are some photos of the family. I sure wish that I had gotten one sooner.
RSchnell Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Was going through some photos here on the laptop- The first pic is my Dad's '41 Continental that he bought when I was 6. We took a road trip just outside of Marietta Ga to go pick it up. He never did anything with this car as one of his friends pestered him to death to sell it to him. The second is me & my sister in the back seat of my Dad's '55 Ford Sunliner with my mother driving. It was some parade but I don't remember the details- that was 40+ years ago! 3
Falcon Ranchero Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Real cool old photos you dudes got; if I'da known this thread existed I wouldn't have posted my old car photos in their own thread. I'll shove them in here so I can say I've added to this thread. In no particular order since I wasn't around to see any of these cars in person; first off here is my Nanna's father's 1963 Mercury (mom's side of the fam). Taken on a road trip around the B.C. area, this bear stopped them on the highway in 1969. Still on my mom's side, this is my Nonno's second car, the 1954 Ford Customline. Taken in 1959. Dad's side now, his father's '67 Mustang Coupe. 289, 4-speed manual. Brand new in '67. My dad's grandfather's 1958 Meteor. Taken October 1961. During the re-colouring process, the "R" in the Meteor script was accidentally deleted. My dad's father's 1963 Falcon. Fender badge indicates a possible V8, but not sure. My Great uncle's second 1964 Galaxie. He is currently the owner of the 1965 Thunderbird I mentioned around the forum. And here he is again with the first Galaxie Back to my mom's side, this is my Nonno's '62 Galaxie. My Aunts are pictured on the fender My Nanna's father's 1953 Chevy 210. The car still exists, though as a rotten upside down wreck in a gully on my grandma's property. Shame about it, but the car lasted 9 years before being replaced by the '63 Mercury late in '62. Shown this one before, my Nonno's 1970 Mercury Marquis Back to my dad's side this is my great uncle Jim's 1960 Plymouth Belvedere, used to chauffer my grandma to her wedding in 1962. The man there was a friend of the family, giving her away as her dad died in WW2 Interestingly enough, the wedding was held across from a used car lot, so some cars got in the background of other photos My other great uncle's hot rod creation, "Snoopy" the '31, pictured here in 1965. Car still exists, all original built, though he hasn't owned the car since 1965, but it still comes out to car shows now and then. Snoopy still wears the paint from circa 1961 One you've never seen before, my dad in 1979 in front of his aunt's house in Windsor, Ontario. His Aunt and Uncle were pretty loaded back then, as you can tell by the brand-new Cadillac and Lincoln in the driveway. I was told they even had a driver for the Lincoln. 3
