fiatboy Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 Liquid cement is too thin, and Army Painter plastic glue is too thick. I have tried "Faller" brand and it is too thin for me. Please recommend something to me. Thanks
StevenGuthmiller Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 Depends on what you're doing with it, but I find that I can meet all of my gluing needs with just 2 glues. Plastruct "Plastic Weld" for bare plastic, and clear 2-part epoxy for everything else. On extremely rare occasions I'll use a little ZAP glue, (super glue) for a few little things, but in almost all cases, I can get by without it. Steve
Dpate Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 Liquid cement is thin cause it’s not made to use like regular CA glue even though folks use it that way. Sounds like you’re wanting medium CA? That’s in the middle of thin, and thick.
NOBLNG Posted September 16, 2023 Posted September 16, 2023 These are pretty much the only glues I use. The Tamiya for bare plastic parts before paint. Thin CA for close fitting painted parts. The medium for less well fitting parts, and the epoxy for joints that need strength.
Bucky Posted September 17, 2023 Posted September 17, 2023 Lately I've been using Loctite brand CA glue. It has been working very well on my projects. I sometimes use white glue for mock-up work and temporary parts joining, but use CA for final assembly.
R. Thorne Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 Since the Modelmaster 8872 is no longer available, you might try the Testors 3507 if you are looking for a thicker cement.
Rocking Rodney Rat Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 CA gloo and E6000 when I have to nudge a part in to place. That is all.... -RRR
bobss396 Posted September 25, 2023 Posted September 25, 2023 I mainly use Tamiya with the green cap solvent type. I have some Micro Mark too. I don't think Tenax is still made. For CA types, I use Gorilla Glue in small tubes or medium Zap-a-gap. Final assembly I'll use tape for hidden things like interior installs or 5-minute epoxy. CA glue can and will fog chrome and glass.
stitchdup Posted September 25, 2023 Posted September 25, 2023 for poly glue i use revell contacta most of the time but if i want a thicker/slower running poly i use humbrol in the yellow bottle (i dont know if humbrol have a difference between bottle colours but i suspect not). Its a little thicker than the revell glue but the needle clogs easily.
