Round 2 could easily make a squad 51, They would need to back date the Dodge pick up with the correct grille, make the squad box, air bottle rack, K-12 saw box, and fire extinguisher that are exposed on the body. Change the wheels and add dualies, modify the light bar to a cali bar, add radio, siren, and helmets for the interior.

Licensing from LACoFD, Univeral Studios or even Jack Webb Productions would be needed to be squad 51

Let's call it 'West Coast fire/rescue truck' with generic decals

Wow, that’s a big difference in width.  Was the Monogram ‘59 Caddy smaller than 1/25th scale?

The ambulances, hearses, and limousines were based on the commercial "chassis" which was wider than that of the passenger cars.

Thanks.  I didn’t know it was that much.

This is still nice to have. I need a stock car trailer tow vehicle and this may do the job. I used to see an old ambulance at the track now and then. I kick myself for letting a couple of Johan ambulance kits go some years ago.

Makes sense, as the rectangular roof lights were in the previous 'Surf' version.

I have been working on this for years, I want to do the original original ghostbuster moble when Ray Stantz delivered the Caddy to the station. I mated thefront of the Monogram Caddy convertible to the ecto II body so that I would have engine detail and tried to mate 1/24th to 1/25th. Is the Revell Caddy 1/25th or 1/24th or repop of Monogram?

Another unique aspect of the series 75 was that it used leaf springs. The Ecto kit frame actually got this right.

IMHO the kits roof is to flat. The Ghostbuster's was the same way. not anything looking like either example the real thing pictured. Maybe back in the day they could have ordered either way. They just don't look right to me.

I've wanted a proper ambulance version of this kit since I bought the Ecto 1A in the 90's, I specifically bought it for that reason but it just ended up looking like the Ghostbusters ride in the wrong colour combo and everything missing! lol. I'm quite looking forward to this one to be honest.

Just my luck  I bought the "Land Shark" Ambulance back in March of 2022. I changed a few things out from a Revell '59 Cadillac such as the front bumper, wheels and tires.

Hey does anyone know how to put the pods together? There's no instruction for it and I can't figure it out. Fantasy modeler and painter over here making an ambulance for my paramedic girlfriend.

For engine detail I just cut the engine bay out of a Monogram Caddy opened the hood of the body and glued it in and stretched the frame.

Odd, that so far, no model kit manufacturer in the US came out with a more modern box ambulance, with either a pickup or Van design cab.

Those Monogram Caddy’s are getting expensive, though.

Hopefully, they've removed to two vertical grid lines running on the side and rear windows from the original Ghostbusters release.  The stock wheel covers and white wall tires look good.  A couple of A-pillar spotlights would have been nice as well considering they tooled up a stock ambulance interior with cabinets and stretcher.

Has anyone seen if these lines were removed?

Just as a Comparison, here is the build video of the Surf Shark kit.

Easy to see what has been added and changed from Surf Shark to stock '59 Ambulance.

I have  2 of these now. That gurney/stretcher looks too narrow to me compared to the old Jo-Han piece

I've seen a YouTube video comparing the stretchers, and the Jo-Han stretcher is too wide to fit the AMT Caddy.

So, while it looks, narrow, it does fit.

Outside of the interior, the gurney does look narrow, but once it's in the interior and the window decals have been applied, you don't notice the size.
