drugsarebad420 Posted September 30, 2023 Posted September 30, 2023 i remember seeing it on the paint shelf at my hobby shop and thinking it was kinda funny that there was a can of sparkly clearcoat, but just now i started thiking of what it could be used for. is it ment to make non-metallic paints metallic? or to add a touch of snazz to windows? 64SS350 Posted September 30, 2023 Posted September 30, 2023 I just used it on a Camaro build over Tamiya Gunmetal Grey. It added more metallics, with prismatic colors. It's very subtle, need good lighting to pick it up. I also added TS-13 over it, with some polishing, but not all of it. You can check it out under... Shooting Brake Camaro under the WIP section. Dave Van Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 Tamiya pearl over gloss white. Note difference between body and roof. NOT a huge difference....I like it. 2 Quote
bobss396 Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 I like it over white lacquer, also it has a great effect over flat black, really like a nice satin finish. No polishing was needed with that. I also shoot it over flat metalizers I use on wheels. Quote
jaymcminn Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 I wanted to experiment on the new Tamiya Nissan Z, so I tried using the pearl clear over one of their military colors, in this case IJN Green. I found that 2 coats of the pearl is the maximum you can get away with before it starts interfering with the base color. Additionally the pearl clear is more of an intermediate coat that still needs a top coat to come up properly glossy. Overall it wound up looking really good... 6 Quote
