this is the amt/ertl knight rider 2000 knight 4000 1/25 scale kit i decided to make a what if version with one of these kits this is what if michael knight had had more time then he had when putting KITT into the knight 4000 he had enough time to tint the taillights and repaint the body and even mod the dash with the remains of KITT's original interior and some custom rims that resembled the originals i also made custom knight rider 2000 figures of michael, shawn and mr maddock
i made the custom hubcaps from legos and the original KITT voice modulator and steering wheel came from a spare jada 1/24 scale KITT i also used putty to create the upper control console

according to the original designer and builder of the 4 screen used cars the knight 4000 was going to be black and the dash was to be a mix of the left over interior parts from KITT after his body  was recycled into cans and most tech was sold off to medical research firms but the studio nixed the color and wanted it red cause they figured  it would get young women interested in the show if the pilot movie did well as they wanted shawn to replace michael as KITTs partner and driver and the reason the interior did not happen was due to a disagreement with glen a larson nd why michael ,devon, and KITT did not act or seam like they were in the original show
also all 4 cars built for the film had to be redesigned and rebuilt from the nose back after pontiac told them to make it look less like the 88 pontiac banshee concept car

Being the owner of a 3rd gen Trans Am, the show makes me cringe, even though I loved it when it was originally on TV.

Great job on this "what if" version. That I like.

BTW, are you going to do a Datsun Z-car version? That was what the producers originally wanted to use as KITT but ended up with the Trans Ams.

Thank you

The original name for KITT was going to be TATT which stood for trans am two thousand the knight industries 2000 was going to be Wilton knight’s plane a custom Lear jet which which the plans were stolen by the same group that left Michael long for dead at the start of the pilot and that Michael knight took down at the end of the pilot as for the Datsun z idea it was rejected by glen a Larson the creator as soon as it came up

Well, you obviously like the show a lot more than I do. ?

Just asking as you've built all those other "phantom" versions and the Z is mentioned in the history of making the show.
