GLMFAA1 Posted October 10, 2023 Posted October 10, 2023 A local fire district celebrated its hundredth anniversary this year and when they held their banquet I asked them what they were using for center pieces at the tables. I volunteered my collection of fire models to be center pieces in return for a free dinner. Original projection was for 35 to 40 models, in the end it was just fifteen. For their cake display I had an aerial ladder flag salute set up. Each table had a different fire apparatus. All went well and all were unharmed. Each model was in a display case and chipped with rfid chips. They also asked if I could do a replica and raffle it off, The time crunch prevented that but I was able to modify a 1/50 scale die-cast to replicate their Mack C85 pumper. The raffle was to go to their Christmas for a family project. It went for $200.00. A very different type of display that was pleasantly accepted by the participants. I took a leap of faith that all would be well and it did. Thanks to Charlie for the replica decals and thanks for the friendship of the fire department and on to the next 100 years greg Apology for the blurry picture. 3
