It would be very nice if they would make a Jaguar Dtype out of their XKSS.

The major change beteeen the two is the fin behind the driver.

Which sould be possible to accomplish by an insert on the the tool for the body.

Yes there would be a split line along the contour of of the fin, where it joins the "decklid".

But that should not be a problem, as on the real car the fin is attached "on top of decklid" with a visible contour line from the material thickness of the attacjmrnt flange of the fin.

The problem would be if they again should produce the XKSS. Then there will be a hairline from the contour of the insert. But a competent tool maker could without major effort make that as a hairline easy to polish out. Not worse than some splitlines we have seen on other models offered on the market.

That is : they would have the option to produce both versions.

The other differences between the D and XKSS are minor components, the largest one the cover over the left side of the seating area.

The tool investments should be rather modest for such a version of tje Dtype

Couldn't they just add the fin and tonneau cover as separate parts and not alter the original kit at all?
