LDO Posted October 15, 2023 Posted October 15, 2023 We’ve all heard that F1 and some other cars generate more downforce than weight, so they should be able to drive upside down. Some guy chose a super lightweight hill climb car (it weighs 700 pounds) and wants to raise funds for a special tunnel that will let the car drive up to the roof. The light weight car was chosen for a lower speed. An F1 car weighs 1000 pounds more and would require a higher speed, and longer tunnel, to reach the target speed. It all sounds pretty cool, but I wonder if it will ever happen. I have to agree with one of the comments; it would be easier to do with an RC car. A real car doing this would be talked about forever. No one wants to see a person fall 25 feet to a horrific crash. Maybe they could make the hill climb car remote controlled. https://www.thedrive.com/news/how-a-youtuber-plans-to-drive-an-f1-style-car-upside-down-for-real
stitchdup Posted October 15, 2023 Posted October 15, 2023 they might be better to use time attack cars. much more down force than f1. some of the top class cars generate 5 tonnes of it
espo Posted October 15, 2023 Posted October 15, 2023 Sounds good. This is what used to be called the cleansing of the gene pool. Hope he does post it on YouTube, should make for an interesting short video. 2
BlackSheep214 Posted October 15, 2023 Posted October 15, 2023 Yup. Obviously this nutjob doesn’t know anything about gravity in school.
Jon Haigwood Posted October 16, 2023 Posted October 16, 2023 Maybe something larger than an Apple fell on his head
Ace-Garageguy Posted October 23, 2023 Posted October 23, 2023 (edited) Opens up a whole new concept in traffic management... PASSING LANE ONLY Edited October 23, 2023 by Ace-Garageguy 1
Brian Austin Posted October 24, 2023 Posted October 24, 2023 There's a fun scene in one of the Men In Black films where the title characters' car rides the ceiling of a tunnel in New York City to avoid traffic. (Filmed using 1/8 scale miniature set. Several Monogram car kits are evident in the stalled traffic background plate.)
