Built from the Tamiya kit, with a few modifications. I removed the export marker lights, then added some 3D printed parts (winch, fog lights, antenna base), a spare tire from another kit, and scratch built interior details. The paint is ScaleFinishes' Light Sand Beige with TS-8 Italian Red stripes, and the interior is TS-78 Fied Gray and TS-4 German Gray. There are a few details I would do differently had I to do over again, hopefully Tamiya is seeing some success with their sports car reissues of late and will offer this kit again. A full writeup of what was done is available here, and as always any comments/criticisms are welcome!

Great job replication the movie vehicle. Beautiful looking paint finish on both the body and interior.

There is a 4.0 inline out there and you did this kit justice. Well done. How readily available is this kit? I’d buy it just for the engine and make a bunch of resin copies for all the curbside Jeep kits in the stash.

Thanks, guys!

Not very, unfortunately. Tamiya released it in the mid-1990s and never again, so secondary market prices have gotten stupid (I managed to find a "good deal" and still overpaid for it). They did just reissue their Lancia Stratos kit that had similarly been out of production since the 1990s, so I'm hoping that it might be a sign that they're considering other kits as well.

That is spot on! I love the attention to detail. Very authentic! I know a woman who has a 1:1 replica. Hers looks like it has Ford Ranger (??) wheels on it.

I've seen a couple of replicas over the years, and when people add their own spin it's a nice touch. I hadn't seen this particular combo before and had to look up some photos...Ford wheels actually look pretty good on Jeeps!

I think that Tamiya missed a trick in not making a Jurassic Park version of this jeep.

Maybe we will see the kit reissued again. It would be nice as the Tamiya kit is the only one of this particular jeep version.

Yes they do. I've seen Explorer wheels on a Cherokee before.

Tamiya doesn't seem to go for licensed properties. This, the Goldeneye BMW, any of several cars from Fast and the Furious or Initial D - they seem like an easy payday. But until a few years ago, they didn't go for reissues, either. Maybe they're rethinking things. I know I'd buy a case of these if they ever got reissued.
