I had the unfortunate experience of having to rebuild the motor in our truck.  Several of my fellow car club members helped pull and reinstall the motor over the last several months.  For those that did - I've build replicas of their cars as a thank you.  This build was based upon the Crew Chief 4x4 blazer.  Not a great model but the car owner had it and I couldn't find anything better.  In order to make it 2wd, I swapped on a 66 C10 chassis - which was close enough.  It was shortened and lowered. Although is blazer is not this color right now - this is the original color and he plans on repainting it soon so he had me do it in the original color - Medium Olive Poly.  I used Colorite paint and clear and was quite happy with the result.  The Crew Chief model was plain - so I added in gauge decals, pedals, a master brake cylinder, custom made heater box, radiator and support from the C10.  For the plaid seats - I took a photo of the originals and put it in photoshop and created a decal. I also used it on the padded side bars which he has and puts on when the top is removed.  I also made burl wood decals for the doors.  All the other decals were also made for it - including the license plate (which has the correct month and year tags), side markers, and CST badges.  I used decals from the 66 for the front turn signal lights as the bumper didn't have them.  I added the mirrors and antenna from the C10 hauler kit.  He also has odd whitewalls with hubcaps and came on only the Highlander and 72 Monte Carlo.  Couldn't find anything close - so I used aluminum dog dish caps on chrome and white painted wheel faces, along with a decal made from a picture of the hubcaps.  I hand cut the whitewalls from peel and stick vinyl.  All in all it was a tough build - but he's more than happy with it. I've included a picture of his blazer along with my truck from a show last year.IMG_3510.thumb.JPG.19b1a768e69bb139139f7e09f4c148fc.JPGIMG_3534.thumb.JPG.dd40b6294f79ff60b95c1b2bf2b9b15c.JPGIMG_3506r.JPG.30834569c88446e1309548190528519a.JPGIMG_3512.thumb.JPG.c423ce70280a0dcd89c454fd76873ca2.JPGIMG_3513.thumb.JPG.bb8f59c24a28262fb6776967e1e3c8f6.JPGIMG_3514.thumb.JPG.06aa7c190b9328b0228eeafa5baae61c.JPGIMG_3516r.thumb.JPG.cd282f41360babba25ab7176d27377b5.JPGIMG_3517.thumb.JPG.c687ec3918094ad3dd23693b62ee6541.JPGIMG_3521.thumb.JPG.d0a34c0208887ade2d5e7818e87cf8d3.JPGIMG_3524.thumb.JPG.b7ac7870c6ae4957b8c33e3122cfbdf2.JPGIMG_3525.thumb.JPG.301fae1315018f24da5140887ab068d8.JPGIMG_3528.thumb.JPG.12aeeae88437debd2da3b7c521c98fc2.JPGIMG_3532.thumb.JPG.4f1d63c2e2bc602e733e4dac181fa942.JPGIMG_0893.JPG.72fff235b36a26886f0b20428fabcf66.JPG

Very well done! I can’t say that I’ve seen the 2WD conversion pulled off this well. Paint and finish look top notch as well as the detail throughout. Excellent job replicating the 1:1

Beautiful looking paint color and finish. Like the way you duplicated your friends interior trim. Like the lowered 2wd Blazers.

Very nice rendition of your friends Blazer there Joe, and a nice gesture to present it to him. Well done.

Cheers,

David. ??

Thanks for all the kind words!  It was a challenging but fun build.  Bottom line is he loves it and that's all that matters.

Beautiful looking Blazer.? The Crew Chief kit certainly has its share of missing and out of scale parts. Excellent job on the 2wd conversion and correcting the shortcomings.?
