I love altereds, have decals and stash to build what I want- I wanted to build this one, but there were no decals for it- until just a bit ago; Chuck Boerne came out with a set, made to fit the Atlantis Fiat. I don't build perfect replicas, and I don't wire and detail my builds- too much stash and not enough time!  This is a "close enough for my shelf". Boxstock Atlantis except I changed out the rear slicks for something meatier, closer to the 1:1. There are different versions of the 1:1, so this more representative of the one with the blower scoop. Thanks for the decals Chuck!

Edit- parachute was added after pics taken!

Wow!  I have a couple of these on my shelf and wasn't sure about the body, but the work you have done on this build is great.  Maybe I will use the kit body and get something together. Great work!

I also like Fiat Altereds. You did a great job on this one. Do you remember which kit's rear slicks were used?

I just sent an email to Chuck Boerner to order a set of decals for myself.

Very nice build and amazing job on the decals - came out looking like a Larry Watson masked panel paint job!

I’m hoping to see the current 1:1 version of this car at the Nitro Revival at the Irwindale 1/8 mile strip this weekend. I’ll post a pic or two if I see it.

Here’s the 1:1 that was at the Nitro Revival meet at Irwindale today (along with hordes of other vintage fuel altereds, AA fuelers, gassers and lots of old fellow geezers). You did a good job on your model capturing the spirit of this crazy scary machine!

Sorry Bill, I got them out of my parts boxes, so I don't remember where they originally came from. Glad you liked the build!

Damn Dave…that looks great!  Definitely one of coolest AA Altereds ever.

Thanks Pete! I decided to come here first, because I hadn't posted here in a while.

No need for an apology, in fact I want to extend a thanks to you. I was so impressed with your build that I got in touch with Chuck Boerner and ordered a set of the same decals. They just arrived today. Thanks for your impressive inspiration.

Excellent rendition and craftsmanship.  Any comments regarding kit quality or issues during construction?  I think I need one of these.

Thanks Andrew! As for the kit, the design is quite old, but it fits ok. The nose and the hole in the hood require some work for the engine to come through, and the decals to fit- you're going to be doing some cutting, putty, and sanding. If you use the kit slicks, they look WAY too puny, and nothing near as big as the 1:1.

Thanks, and you're welcome! These are about the 4th set of decals I've got from Chuck, he's a superb decal maker.
