Gary Chastain Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 My next project will be the Mack Granite built up as a Michigan Logging Truck (logging trucks vary in design based on regions in US). This will be my second logging truck I have built, so hopefully better than the last. The inspiration comes from Lutke Logging Company which is just down the road from me, so I have gathered a ton of reference material and pictures. This truck will be scratch built using parts from two donor kits and a lot of aftermarket parts including Texas 3D new printed frame rails. Dual steering axles, two rear air lift axles, two drive axles, 26ft bed, scratch build logging crane. Reference pic. Parts collected Mack Granite cab kit 2
Dave Van Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 I like that Mack cab. My daughter in law's family owns a trucking company and they are 100% Mack Granite. This is their display truck for shows and parades.

Gary Chastain Posted November 1, 2023 Author Posted November 1, 2023 I will build a new version of this logging crane I built a few years ago with the exception of the controls area. New crane only have two control sticks and are mounted near the seat area. The two main extending beams will need to be much longer for the 26 ft bed.
Chariots of Fire Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 Got your work cut out for you Gary. Will be watching!?

Gary Chastain Posted November 15, 2023 Author Posted November 15, 2023 A mistake on my part, I thought the Mack cab was 1:25 scale, it is not, rather 1:24. I will be using the Mack Superliner (in my stash) as the donor kit. Ordered new 1:24 air lift non steering and steering air lift axle from A&N. Wide front tires and wheels ordered from ST Supply and miscellaneous other stuff coming. Assuming I can use the engine and drive axles from the Superliner

Gary Chastain Posted December 19, 2023 Author Posted December 19, 2023 Starting to get all the parts in, steering lift axles and tag air lift axles just came today from A&N. First time using their parts.
Gary Chastain Posted December 19, 2023 Author Posted December 19, 2023 Received the tires and steering rims. Need 10 road tread tires for the trailer, need four wide front rims and four wide tires for steering axles. What I am short yet is 10 wide rear singles for the trailer. 1
