Yeah Nah Posted November 3, 2023 Posted November 3, 2023 This Lindberg is a very decent kit of (to me) the nicest looking 60s Chevy. One of my earliest pre-airbrush models painted with rattle can enamels. Not bad but not great either and when I can find a decent paint stripper and replacement decals I'll re-do it. Built before I discovered BMF and Molotow, the 'chrome ' trim is silver paint brushed on which looks ok out in the sun but nowhere else! Left hand outer tail light missing too. Aaagh! 13
Perspect Scale Modelworks Posted November 3, 2023 Posted November 3, 2023 Very nice looking impala. 1
Hard_2_Handle_454 Posted November 3, 2023 Posted November 3, 2023 Beautiful. It would pair nice with the convertible I did in red and white. 1
atomicholiday Posted November 4, 2023 Posted November 4, 2023 Great looking build. I agree with you. The '61 is probably my favorite year for the Impala. 1
Kah puts Posted November 4, 2023 Posted November 4, 2023 Who needs BMF when you can paint like that, Uber nice? 1
DanL Posted November 4, 2023 Posted November 4, 2023 Nice work on this one... My first car was a 61 Chevy impala 1
dragstk Posted November 4, 2023 Posted November 4, 2023 The 61 is my favorite of the early Impalas. You have done a great job on this. Very clean! 1
XYHARRY Posted November 4, 2023 Posted November 4, 2023 Very nice Impala there Garry, the painted on trim looks great. Cheers, David. ?? 1
Dan Hay Posted November 4, 2023 Posted November 4, 2023 (edited) It looks great. I wouldn’t strip it, it’s good to have early representations of your building skill around so you can see how much you have improved. I wish I still had some of the builds I did as a kid, flaws and all. Just build another 61 but a little different. 61 Chevys make great mild Kustoms! Edited November 4, 2023 by Dan Hay 1
Zippi Posted November 4, 2023 Posted November 4, 2023 That's a good looking 61 Chevy Bubbletop. Yeah, I'd keep it as is for a reminder as meantioned. 1
NOBLNG Posted November 4, 2023 Posted November 4, 2023 (edited) I agree with everyone…keep it as is. It is a very nice looking Impala. Build another one if you desire, and then you can compare them. Edited November 4, 2023 by NOBLNG 1
Classicgas Posted November 4, 2023 Posted November 4, 2023 Dang, that's awesome. Hands down the nicest silver painted trim I've ever seen. 1
espo Posted November 4, 2023 Posted November 4, 2023 Great looking build even for today. Might consider a little polishing instead of striping the paint. You could always do some chrome foil, but the silver paint looks good. I'm partial to the subject as well. 1
karbuildr Posted November 4, 2023 Posted November 4, 2023 Looks pretty darn good to me. Testors enamels are easy to airbrush but not so easy out of the rattle can. I really like this build and I agree with the others. Don't strip it, leave it as. Very well done. 1
Slotto Posted November 4, 2023 Posted November 4, 2023 I agree, keep it the way it is. Very sharp! I would trade out one of those license plates though ? 1
bill-e-boy Posted November 4, 2023 Posted November 4, 2023 Nice build and impressive bright work. I would not strip it and repaint - just get another kit and redo it with your increassed skill levels to show how you have progressed since that was built. 3
