WillyBilly Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 This is our early 2009 Pontiac G8 GT. Powered by an all-aluminum 361 hp 6.0 V8, and 6 speed auto. This is the last RWD V8 powered Pontiac built. 2
iamsuperdan Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 Just when Pontiac were starting to sell interesting cars, GM goes and closes them down. I think if done right, GM could have positioned Pontiac as their performance division. Sort of like an American BMW. Exciting, sporty sedans. 1

At that time GM was teasing us that they would bring a new Pontiac El Camino built on this same chassis, sold down under as a Ute. I was all ready to trade my '05 GTO, aka Monaro, for one when they pulled the plug on Pontiac.
WillyBilly Posted November 8, 2023 Author Posted November 8, 2023 Actually, it is called an L76. It is a mix of LS2, and LS3 parts. I was excited for the Ute as well, but I am a long roof guy. I wanted the wagon version. A 2 door version was also floated around. I just sold a 2012 caprice. Also a Holden Commadore with a stretched wheelbase sold to police agencies only when new.

You mention liking wagons, and I don't know if you watch Mecum Auctions on TV or follow them on their web site, but they had a Holden wagon that had been converted to left hand drive and sold in their last auction. The same consigner had a Monaro Ute that was still right-hand drive listed in the "Price goes on." I don't know what it would take to import one and the DMV issues would vary from one state to the next.
