michelle Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 I ordered the wrong late 2nd gen firebird kit I did not realize that the custom widebody fender flares and custom rear spoiler and custom hood bulge would be molded in as this kit was marked as a build one of two ways only to find out that it only applied to the decals not the model itself and the plastic used to make the kit was denser then normal styrene so it made cutting away the custom spoiler and custom widebody flares and the section of the body that I had to remove for the 3rd gen rear window and to remove the parts of the lower section of the nose of the car used putty to fill in the wheel well openings to look more stock I did a wheel swap with ones that were closer to the ones on the concept car I used a spare taillight panel from a aoshima knight rider season 4 KITT kit and three of the sticker decals from the late 2nd gen firebird kit and I modified the dash top and replaced radio/climate controls with 3rd gen ones and added a shifter which was not included in the kit I added 3rd gen door armrests which ment I had to do a front seat swap since the kit ones did not fit with the door armrests this kit did not turn out very good I plan to get another late 2nd gen firebird kit that is factory stock and remake this model better For the actual concept car it was built in July of 1979 I included the picture I found and used a reference when making this model 3
karbuildr Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 Lots of work for a concept that never made it. Good job on your part for even taking on this project. Well done.

Camaro lover Posted November 14, 2023 Posted November 14, 2023 I like how you’re not afraid to take on subjects that most people wouldn’t even think about.

ea0863 Posted November 14, 2023 Posted November 14, 2023 Wonderful build Michelle, and great bit of history. I remember when this generation F body came out in 1982, and I was totally in love with it. I didn't even know about the concept car though.

Thank you the 3rd and 4th gen firebirds are the only years I like the design and look of mainly cause KITT from knight rider and the 4th gen cause they looked just a cool and better then the way to rounded edges of the 4th gen Camaro which is one of the the only two gens for the Camaro I don’t like the other is the 6th gen Camaro mainly cause I do not like that oversized lower air dam and narrow short grille it just looks unbalanced unlike the way it looked in the 5th gen as for the Camaro 4th gen it was to many rounded edges and Camaros look better with more angular sharper edges
