'49 Merc

This one has been on and off the bench for a number of years. Each time I worked on it. I had a different vision of what I wanted the outcome to be. 

Over the years, shes gone thru extensive body work as I cut off the roof at one point only to lay it back down with a more aerodynamic look. Also fabbed up a hood hanger that's hidden when closed. I hate body work! Mainly because I'm no good at it. When I put her back on the bench, I was determined I wanted black with a satin finish with red interior. The seats came from a die cast and the grille is from the '59 Thunderbird. The steering wheel is from the Moebius Hudson and the dash is from the '58 Impala kit. I was going for the rat sheik look. It never occurred to me to light her up until this week. No motor yet.

The hood modification and working lights make it stand out. The mods done make it unique for sure.

As for bodywork, practice practice practice. I know when I started on more major mods, I think I sanded more than I didn't. I actually went thru a lot of filler learning. Never stop!
