WillyBilly Posted November 18, 2023 Posted November 18, 2023 I painted this a few years back with Rustolium X2 Orange. This week was the week I threw it together. Not a good kit by any standards. No shocks, no engine bay details, cheap windshield you have to cut yourself, tub had to be sanded to get it to fit correctly, wheels seemed too wide for the tires when assembled. This is what model building is all about, but I was not too happy with the fit, and finish. Anyways, I am calling it done. I will have to detail the fender emblem soon. 4
1930fordpickup Posted November 18, 2023 Posted November 18, 2023 (edited) With as nice as the Semi kits were that Ertl put out, These Scouts are a bit under detailed for sure. You did a good job with it. Edited November 18, 2023 by 1930fordpickup 1
ncbuckeye67 Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 You definitely made something nice out of this one for sure! I believe all of the issues you had, are due to the age of the molds. It reminds me of the Revell Jeep Honcho kit (Snow Patrol). A lot of the kits back then were exactly like this one. Thanks for the heads up on this kit. I have a couple on the shelf that I haven't got around to yet. 1
Chirps Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 Nice job with it! I had a similar struggle with mine and had to raid the parts box for shocks, heater, radiator, mufflers, master cylinder, battery and I cannot remember what else. I had similar grumblings over that acetate windshield! It's posted on here (I think) somewhere. Sometimes the unusual subjects have the least detail.
Sledsel Posted December 13, 2023 Posted December 13, 2023 I am dealing with one of these also. A lot of test fitting! It goes in and out of the box for me to get a breather. Although challenging you did a good job on it! You can always ad shocks, but personally I wouldn't be concerned, heck, half my builds are missing driveshafts!
stavanzer Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 Super Nice Build. Sorry to read about the assembly troubles. I have a pair of these kits waiting to be built. Your build helps give me things to look out for. Good Show!
