Milo Posted November 19, 2023 Posted November 19, 2023 Is it a matte paint? I want to use it for an interior color.
afx Posted November 19, 2023 Posted November 19, 2023 Tamiya's TS line are all glossy. This the TS-7 Racing White 1

Depending on the use, either semi-gloss or flat clear will take the gloss down. I usually test out with semi-gloss first for leather/vinyl and flat for cloth. But sometimes flat is needed even for leather/vinyl because the sheen is still too great. Edited November 19, 2023 by Exotics_Builder 1
Milo Posted November 19, 2023 Author Posted November 19, 2023 Should I use lacquer or enamel clear? Sometimes I'm using enamel, lacquer, or acrylic for all kinds of things, and I haven't heard much good about enamel clear
Rich Chernosky Posted November 19, 2023 Posted November 19, 2023 Tamiya makes both a semi gloss and a flat and they are quite compatible with TS7. Go with that..the safe bet. 1
espo Posted November 19, 2023 Posted November 19, 2023 The Tamiya White Primer might give you the finish you're after.

It does if you're aiming for a parchment/white color, but Racing White is more towards an ivory color (which has some yellow in it). Edited November 19, 2023 by Exotics_Builder 1
NOBLNG Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 (edited) I believe I used Tamiya racing white for this interior. I should have given it a coat of flat clear?? Edited November 20, 2023 by NOBLNG 1

oldcarfan Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 Tamiya Racing White is close to Ford's old Wimbledon White, sort of an off-white if you will. Their Pure White is a bright white but I use their clear flat over gloss paints for interiors and it works well. Once dry, you can sort of polish the flat with your finger or even a little actual polish to give certain areas a touch of semi-gloss to mimic wear on leather and such.
