Jürgen M. Posted November 19, 2023 Posted November 19, 2023 (edited) Hi everyone, after a long time of not being online an not knowing if anyone cares I decided to give it another try. I bulit a Marmon cabover. The Chassis is from a Revell KW W900 Aerodyne, the cab and the interior were printed in a 3D printer after self designing it. Hope you like it. First I´ll show you the chassis which I had to customize, since it was originally made for a conventional. Then I´ll show you how I made the cab. Edited November 19, 2023 by Jürgen M. 1

There was quite some modification to do but I think it looks pretty good.
Jürgen M. Posted November 19, 2023 Author Posted November 19, 2023 Now I´ll show you the making of the cab and the interior. Everything was designed and printed by myself. I know it´s not perfect, the structure of the printed cab is still visible but I think it came out quite well anyway. 2
Engine 51 Posted November 19, 2023 Posted November 19, 2023 Very nice indeed. I would like to be able to design and print stuff I’d like to build but….. Well done!
Rockford Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 Jurgen, good to see you back! Really clever stuff printing your own cab. Are you self taught? How long did all that take? Well done on your Marmon. Looks great. Did you do the instrument panel too? Very nice work.
Jürgen M. Posted November 21, 2023 Author Posted November 21, 2023 (edited) Thanks guys, nice to hear that you like it! Actually yes, I did the whole interior including seats, cockpit, instrument panel, bed, ... It took about 8 weeks to design all the parts and another three weeks to print them all. Some I had to redesign and print again since they didn´t turn out the way I had expected. Then of course the painting, masking, paining again, ... but that´s the stuff you all know at least as well as I do! Anyway, thanks for having me be welcome again here. I´ll do my best to stay within the rules. If you´re interested, I´ve actually done two more models with help of my printer. One is a customized Diamond Reo C-116 which has the cab of the above mentioned KW W900 Aerodyne and a sleeper of the Peterbilt 359 which is also from Revell. The chassis, hood, fenders, fuel tanks, exhaustpipes, airfilters, ... are printed. I´ll show you that one shortly. The latest one I´ve finshed was also a Diamond Reo but it´s a cabover. This one´s actually over 90% printed which means only the tires, air lines and the straps of the fuel tanks are not printed. Engine, gear box, chassis, cab, interior, running lights, horns, ... were all printed. I´m quite proud of it since it turned out pretty nice! Oh yes, Rockford, to answer your question if I´m self taught! Yes! I did already have some experience using 3D CAD programmes so it wasn´t too hard learning the new features. When I post the two new ones I´ll put some screenshots of the 3D parts in for you to compare! Unfortunately the printer doesn´t dissolve the details as good as I hoped but I´m looking forward to a new printer which is easier to handle and has more features concerning print quality. So, that was quite a lot of talking I did here. As a reward for having read all my BS I´ll show you the C-116: (Rest comes the next days!) Edited November 21, 2023 by Jürgen M.
Jürgen M. Posted November 21, 2023 Author Posted November 21, 2023 (edited) Hi, me again. I just noticed that the pics of the Marmon COE aren´t the final ones. It´s not finished there yet but here are some of the completed model! Edited November 21, 2023 by Jürgen M.
Rockford Posted November 21, 2023 Posted November 21, 2023 All excellent stuff! The sky's the limit now for you Jürgen. The Diamond Reo looks rather beefy and the finished Marmon looks brilliant. Lee up the good work! Looking forward to seeing more of your builds.
Jürgen M. Posted November 22, 2023 Author Posted November 22, 2023 Thanks guys! I know, the Diamond Reo isn't quite perfect but I like it anyway. Thanks for your honesty! I do expect that you say what you think. ? That's what this is all about. The Marmon in fact die turn out pretty well. Spent lots of time in it too.
Force Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 Looks good. One thing tho' the rear wheels isn't correctly mounted, the outer lip should be inside the tires and the wheels should look like this.
