Gustavo Reis Posted November 19, 2023 Posted November 19, 2023 Trying to improve a very bad kit. I ordered this kit from the Internet and as soon as I opened it it was a disappointment, the Mitsubishi AMT kit from the Fast 3 is terrible, everything is wrong, from the bodywork, bodykit, wheels; I was so upset that in the same week I went to a model store and bought the Fujimi kit, I was only able to use the decals. I ended up assembling the Fujimi soon. After a long time I was wondering what to do with this junk. I decided to do the Fast 2 one, but I needed to cut 5mm from the entire kit, from the body, to the chassis, engine, seats. Then I changed the hood and the front, I designed the decals and took the wheels left over from the Skyline. Some things aren't perfect, but I think it's looks nice. The kit box The Fujimi kit 4
Yeah Nah Posted November 19, 2023 Posted November 19, 2023 Turned out great in the end Gustavo. Some kits need a lot more work than others to get there!
karbuildr Posted November 19, 2023 Posted November 19, 2023 I like it, and I think it came out very nice. I really like the color you chose.
oldcarfan Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 Thank you for the public service as I was thinking of buying the AMT kit. Instead, I'll save the money and use it for something else. Sorry you had to find out the hard way, but you made a decent car!
avidinha Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 Great job! I've built that kit, and you're not wrong about how terrible it is. Great save!
ncbuckeye67 Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 Excellent build! Your hard work definitely paid off!
Dave Van Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 Very nice save on that one. I bought that kit back when it came out, I too saw it was nothing like the movie car. I just gave up and built it as a 'tuna' street car. It is such a odd kit for AMT.....nothing like anything they did before or after. Here is mine, hope you don't mind. thx BTW I bought the Fujimi EVO kit too yet to build
Ace-Garageguy Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 Nice job of re-working a bad kit into something good.
spencer1984 Posted November 21, 2023 Posted November 21, 2023 I think like everyone else who got this kit, I got as far as opening the box before buying the Fujimi kit. You've done an incredible job turning this into something that actually looks good!
ewetwo Posted November 22, 2023 Posted November 22, 2023 You did justice on those two. Both look great.
Phirewriter Posted November 23, 2023 Posted November 23, 2023 Nice job making a silk purse from sows ear. I too bought one when Iit came out and I've never opened it since. I think Revell made a good effort with their F&F and tuner cars but this kit, the 350Z and Supra seemed like they were designed by cartoonists. Again great job!
Chuck Most Posted November 23, 2023 Posted November 23, 2023 I remember reading about this kit when it came out, and never seeing it on shelves. Ever. I thought I had just hallucinated until I actually saw one a couple years ago. Looks like it may have been hard won but the end result is a definite improvement. Just be happy you didn't tear into the '77 Pinto like I did recently.
