Finished this up today. Dang this kit went together hard. Nothing seemed to fit, but I won in the end. Mostly box stock with wheels and tires  from the Barris 65 Riviera, lake pipes from the Revell 49 Merc. Paint was inspired by Jim Doss’ 58 Chevy painted by Larry Watson. Tamiya purple and light Pearl blue covered in Tamiya clear. Then colorsanded with 3000 then polished with 3M Perfect-it 3 stage compound and polish. Lots of chrome trim removed if you know what a 58 Impala looks like. Thanks for looking!

Very tastefully done Dan. Great job! Did the kit come with opening doors, or was that more of your magic?

The kit came with opening doors. They were a real pain. I almost glued them shut. I had to shave about 1/8” off both armrests to get the doors to close, and now that they close the drivers door is nearly impossible to open. Too much paint build up in the doorjamb I guess. Thanks for the kind words!

Beautiful work.? Love the paint job and chrome trim removal. I have a couple of these and have been putting them off because I’ve never built one with opening doors.?

Beautiful looking paint treatment and finish. The chrome trim removal, "shaving", removes a lot of trim clutter that detracted from the body lines on these Impalas. Like the interior and the stance.

That is a beautiful paint job, as is the whole build.  Removing so much of the chrome trim really showcases the great lines on the car.  Well done!
