leafsprings Posted November 23, 2023 Posted November 23, 2023 (edited) Rebuilt an older GMC pickup into a 1 ton 4x4 wrecker. A little scratch building on the wrecker body. Edited November 23, 2023 by leafsprings 10
Bills72sj Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 Very nicely done! What kits were needed to kitbash this?
bill lanfear Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 Nice work Tom! I love the 4x4 conversion and the wrecker bed is very authentic! Well done!
Street Rod Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 The paint and details on this truck make it look very authentic. Great kit bashing and scratch building!
espo Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 Great looking conversion. Realistic looking 4x4 conversion.
leafsprings Posted November 26, 2023 Author Posted November 26, 2023 (edited) Thanks for all the positive comments. Always trying to change things up a bit. Originally was a stepside in poor shape. The wrecker boom and floor piece is from the Revell '77 GMC wrecker with the strange looking wrecker body. The bed was fabricated using side panels from the Peterbilt 359 sleeper. The chassis is the typical flat frame, but extended a bit and the 2WD front suspension was removed and resin front 4x4 axle and leaf springs added. Wheels are from a diecast 50's Chevy. Last photo is the inspiration for the 1 ton 4x4 conversion. Edited November 26, 2023 by leafsprings
mikemodeler Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 Nice rig, love the 4wd conversion. I have the 2wd cousin of that truck in the "to be completed" pile....someday!
Chirps Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 Outstanding wrecker! Love the details and swap over to a 1 ton 4X4 driveline. Well done!
Toys4Don2 Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 Awesome looking Wrecker. Your modifications/details look great!!
stavanzer Posted January 22, 2024 Posted January 22, 2024 A really well done Kit Bashing/ Scratch Building project. The various parts are well thought out, and come together well. I especially like some the small details. The Push Bumper and decals, the Wrecker Bed and the Wheels & Tires. All blend into one excellent whole. Good Show!
Bills72sj Posted January 23, 2024 Posted January 23, 2024 Well done. A nice, believable compilation of pieces.
