I used to buy one now and again when I was a kid also. Never bought comic books but CARtoons and Mad magazine would get my money until I started buying Hot Rod, etc.

When I was 9 or 10 years old, around 1990, my dad bought me a big compilation edition of CarToons. I was a bit young for some of the humor but loved the artwork.

That does bring back fond memories!

I can't remember how many issues I had at my grandma's in my old room along with hundreds of old cars magazines from the 50's and 60's when I got married and moved out.

My sister took over the whole upstairs and cleaned it out and tossed them all in grandpa's burning barrel.

I used make my mom pick me up copies when I went grocery shopping with her.

I definitely didn't understand a lot of the humour at the time, and honestly, probably didn't care. I would just get the magazine for the artwork. I was big into cars and drawing back then, so would copy what I saw in the mags.

Saving that link that Graham posted above, so I can go back and read later. See if I recognize anything from the 80s.

I managed to get a quick sneak peek at Barnes & Nobles last night. I was surprised there was only one comic read on Krass and Bern. Usually there's at least 3 of them back in the early issues.

In 2016 CARtoons returned to publication. I grew up reading CARtoons. I had a subscription for 6 or 7 years until they stopped production in 91. I kept them all until 2014, I sold my entire collection to a friend of mine.

The reborn magazine is great and even has some of the original artists such as George Trosley. If anyone is interested they have a pretty active Facebook page also. Here is the special edition issue #0 and the return issue #1.

too ... wasn't aware of it return from the "dead".  I'm old enough to remember reading the saga of "Unknown & the varmints" & Rudy Hogg w/ all his "blown" farm equipment & a pig as the farm hand.

I was a reader of the mag back in the day and discovered it's return a few years ago. I have a subscription and while it has changed with the times, it is still a good read. George Trosley is great artist and his work has been in all kinds of magazines over the years. I even have a CarToons t-shirt.
