Try to switch the exhaust manifolds left to right so the turbos comes up instead. The Camino have more space on top than the Vette and less on the bottom where the frame takes alot of space. Sweet build btw!

Thanks Anton…I had thought of that, but it would require some fancy exhaust piping. I haven’t gotten seriously into this one yet, as I am trying to get my ‘56 T-Bird painted, struggling with a ‘41 Plymouth and doing a ‘49 Merc. I will have another look at it when I get motivated.? 1

Mattilacken Posted February 27, 2024 Posted February 27, 2024 Clear is on. Now masking for all the black, maybe some polishing first not sure if I micro mesh it or just use compound. 3
thatz4u Posted February 27, 2024 Posted February 27, 2024 just saw the original Cannonball movie on the LAFF channel this past weekend... 2

And now it’s polished, but still need to get a Tamiya finishing compound since I can see swirls still from the fine compound but it’s getting there. o and no run through which is a first for me, the paint was good to start with so I started with 6000 in some places but ended up with 4000 and then all the way to 12000:) 4
Camaro lover Posted March 3, 2024 Posted March 3, 2024 Small update, but a big one out of the way. I’ve been dreading this part of the build. I bought a photo etch set from MCG. The main piece I wanted was an accurate front grill to replace the original one that was with the kit. As you can see I broke the original grill trying to remove the center section. So I went into my 56 year old original Camaro kit and used the custom grill included in that kit. I was a lot more careful with that one and was able to open it up. Got the new grill pieces in place. This is my first time working with photo etch. It was a bit harder than I thought it would be but I’m glad I did it. The grill is recessed more than on the real car, but I like it. I’ll be using some of the other pieces of photoetch but thankfully they won’t involve the type of work I just got out of the way. 3
Beans Posted March 3, 2024 Posted March 3, 2024 Got the topcoat on the body and working on finishing up the interior. 2
White Rabbit Posted March 3, 2024 Author Posted March 3, 2024 It's great to see so much progress; and so quickly too! A small update for my RX3. After taking some time to further detail the tires, I've gotten back to the engine. The front-side housing is essentially complete, so now it'll be onto the rear-side housing, front cover, and ancillaries. 1

xbazzarex Posted March 3, 2024 Posted March 3, 2024 every build so far looks awesome, only thing ive done on the SSR is get the parts off the trees and started prepping the body. Had 2 projects i was already working on and just finished one and the other is almost done, then the SSR will start getting updates in here.
oldcarfan Posted March 4, 2024 Posted March 4, 2024 No real progress today, but I did make a few positive steps. I ordered a different engine to try. I'm having trouble getting the Coyote twin turbo setup to fit in the Expedition engine bay. I found a 5.2 liter Voodoo and will see if it fits better. I was hit with some inspiration for the front bumper this afternoon and also managed to get the hood to fit a bit better.
Jantrix Posted March 4, 2024 Posted March 4, 2024 Scratch building an EFI intake. I'm going to add power steering, modern wheels/tires, and brakes. Paint, I'm undecided on but this Impala has a beautiful bodyline so a two-tone is likely. 5
Jantrix Posted March 4, 2024 Posted March 4, 2024 (edited) I don't know why I'm getting double posts when I add photos but I am. Edited March 4, 2024 by Jantrix

White Rabbit Posted March 6, 2024 Author Posted March 6, 2024 (edited) Hello all! Just wanted to post a parts update. I recently replaced my old 2k printer that wasn't working quite well anymore with a new 8k 3d printer. Today, I ran the first print: wheels, tires, seats, and front damper covers. If you look close, you can see the branding on the tires. Edited March 6, 2024 by White Rabbit 2

Beans Posted March 6, 2024 Posted March 6, 2024 Managed to get about a 1/8" blob of superglue on the roof. Pretty thrilled with that. Of course it happened after the glass is in and the trim is painted. Looks like some sanding, a lot of taping and a little repainting are in my future.

If you finish by the end great, if not, then you are not alone. This year there is a lot of early activity. It tends to die down then pick up again around September.
