So I know there is this thing about Pledge Revive It. So here’s an example of a colored plastic before and after a coat. I just threw it on there. It’s the 007 blue police car. My Ollie’s just got these in so I bought one out of curiosity seeing I just received the earlier white plastic version of this kit. First 2 photos are before a coat. The other 2 are after. If you have this kit you know how awful the blue plastic is in the kit. This doesn’t work well with enamel paint. But some builds I’ve done that were colored plastic has come out well.

To me, the floor polish thing is another short cut that I don’t trust.

There’s every indication that it will probably turn yellow over time.

It’s not worth the risk as far as I’m concerned.

Steve, first of all, this stuff is *NOT* a floor polish.  Polish (by definition) does not have any body to it.  This stuff (whatever name it is now called) is "floor finish". The difference?  It actually does not not just polish the existing surface - it creates a clear film.  It is actually water-based clear acrylic clear coating.

It is designed to be walked on, so it is quite durable.  It has been used by modelers for decades, so it has proven that it works.  But just like with any paint coatings - there could be some compatibility problems. But being water-based, it is pretty safe to apply over any well-cured finish. However there could be some compatibility issues if other coatings are applied over it.  Again, nothing different than when we use "standard" paints.

I still have a bottle of Future (about 20 years  old),and I only use to on clear plastic parts to increase their clarity. It works great for that.  It has not yellowed over time. So I'm sort of on your side, but I just wanted to clarify the definitions.

I've mainly used it on colored plastics that have a nice finish but this makes them pop. And the 007 Cop Car was just a demo as that blue plastic is pretty bad. But it was the best candidate to show the before and after aspects. And my cars are in displays. It washes off if you need to. It doesn't work well on enamels as I've done that. Enamels air out for years as far as I see. I agree with you on the clear glass.

That’s all fine, and you can have my share.

I’ll stick with real paint. ?

And here I thought I would sent you a small bottle of my 30-year-old Future (when it was still called "Future) to try. ;)

Well, I KNOW that I’d never use it in place of clear lacquer.

The only reason that I had ever considered buying any was possibly for glass, but the last thing that I need is more stuff that I’ll never use cluttering up my shop. ?
