Revell/Monogram 1997 Corvette (C5)

My plan with this kit was exactly like my others, make a factory fresh looking example of this car sticking to factory colors. With that being said I wanted to try Dupli-Color as I could nail down the factory colors on my models, which are mostly everyday cars. After researching I sent it and bought a few cans of the colors I wanted and thought I would use this kit as a test. Bright Aqua Metallic was the closest GM color I could get to an available 1997 color on the Corvette, Nassau Blue was the goal.  One day I will airbrush but due to space restrictions I need to keep it to rattle cans for now.

This model has been primed in Rustoleum which I think was flaw 1, I need to use Dupli-Color primer and potentially sealer. Spraying the stuff was a learning point as its not a can of model paint. Not the happiest with this model but I cleared it with Dupli-Color clear and polished it with Tamiya compounds. The interior is just black primer with various glosses. This kit was a JOY to put together and has hit me with a Corvette bug. I need to build another one of these and do it right. I also picked up a C4 and now I have the C4 bug so yeah more to come...

Hey thank you brother!

I picked up the Revell 1993 40th Anniversary C4. It was a good deal and I have always had a soft spot for the C4. I'd like to get another C5 and that Grand Sport C4.
