1950 Ford Fire Truck

This is a 1/25 scale Monogram '50 Ford pickup kit, converted into a volunteer fire truck. Other than the cab, everything is kit bashed or scratch built. The rear section is built from Evergreen sheets, tubing and strips. The large hoses are cut from coax cable, with scratch built couplings/nozzles. The hose on the reel is wire insulation, and the folded hose in the rear is folded cloth. The ladders are basswood and bamboo, and the axes have carved wooden handles. The fire extinguishers and front-mounted pump are scratch built, and the decals were custom made. The paint is Krylon Banner red, from a rattle can. I worked on it, off and on, for more than a year.

Wow, that's amazing! All that hard work and extra effort is what separates a builder from an assembler. My daughters went to school in Lewisville (NC).

Beautiful work on this pumper! Great to see these older cabs utilized for other purposes than a 1/2 ton pickup. Everything looks spot on for a vintage rig back in the day. Really like the flow of the one piece running boards and tires and wheels chosen.

Absolutely a beautiful job! I love that it has lots of scratchbuilding!

I found that white shoelaces dyed in tea makes for a good firehose as well as the folded cloth you used.

I'm not far away, in St. Matthews SC. I used the name Lewisville because it was the name of my town up until the early 20th Century.

The kit is an F1. However, I opened up the fenders to accommodate the larger tires, matching an F5 fire truck, pictures of which I used for reference.

Wow, looks awesome! Real wood ladders, parts and miniature hoses, all lightly weathered, some real modeling in evidence!

Reminds me of an old Imex diecast flatbox kit I made years ago and dug out to show at the Group 25 club meeting in November, a 1953 Ford though
