'41 Willy's Street Rod

Just cracked open the box on this Revell '41 Willy's the other day.  This is a really nice looking kit and I have started the clean up on some of the parts.  The rear tires have letters that could be painted white or just reverse them and have slick side.  Have not made up my mind yet.

Watching with interest! I enjoyed your video on the differences between this and the earlier kit, which I have in my stash. It's sealed and may stay that way now...:)

I appreciate ya following along Gary.  Thanks for watching my video.

The original kit is way better then this kit !!!

Well Bob, I guess it could be depending on a person's definition of better.  I'll get to it somewhere down the road but for now I opted for the one with less moving parts.  I appreciate your input man.

Not much going on with the 41 Willy's as I'm still trying to finish up my 51 Henry J SD.  I did manage to get some of the engine painted and put together.  I got the spark plug wire holes drilled out in the Hemi heads.  I didn't like how inside the bug catcher I could see the yellow from where the chrome didn't cover so I hit it with some flat black.

I cut the nubs off the hood and put some filler pieces in the body.  Once dry I'll clean it up and put some putty in and smooth it all out.

I got the body filled in where the hood tabs fit into.  I don't think I'm going to putty these two areas as it would be hard to sand it down flat due to the area it's in.  I also worked on installing spark plug boots into the valve covers.  I use telephone wire I buy at the hardware store and strip the insulation off.  I cut the insulation in short lengths and glued into the valve covers.  After the glue sets up I'll try and install the spark plug wires.  The wire in the insulation is already a tight fit so well see what happens.  I've never done it this way before.  The left over wire is good for fuel lines, brake lines, etc.

Nice looking kit, but I also think that engine's killer kool!   Clean job on a nice lookin' piece o' gear!  Looking forward to the rest of the build.
